Castilian languages

branch of West Iberian languages

The Castillian languages are a branch of Romance languages. They were first spoken in central Spain, and then spread to nearly all of Spain. The main language in the branch is Spanish, which has around 480 million speakers around the world. Since the colonial era, Spanish has been spoken in Latin America.[1]
