Chatterbot

program or set of instructions that simulates conversation with humans

A chatterbot is a computer program that responds to input in a natural language.[1] An example is ELIZA. ELIZA was one of the first chatterbots. Every year, there is a contest for chatterbots called the Loebner prize.
