Desman
tribe of small insectivorous mammals
The desman is an insectivore in the mole family, the Talpidae.
It is a diving insectivore. It is in the tribe Desmanini (and subfamily Desmaninae). The tribe has only two species in Eurasia. There is one in Russia and the other in the northwest of the Iberian peninsula and Pyrenees. Both species are vulnerable.
