Diana Sands

American actress (1934–1973)

Diana Patricia Sands[1] (August 22, 1934 – September 21, 1973) was an American actress. She was best known for her role of Beneatha Younger, the sister of Sidney Poitier's character in the original stage and movie versions of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun (1961). Sands was born in New York City.

Sanders died on September 21, 1973 of leiomyosarcoma in New York City, aged 39.
