Hamiet Bluiett

American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer

Hamiet Bluiett (BLUE-et; September 16, 1940 – October 4, 2018) was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer. His instrument was the baritone saxophone. Bluiett was born in Brooklyn, Illinois. He was thought to be one of the finest players of this instrument. He was member of the World Saxophone Quartet, he also played (and records with) the bass saxophone, E-flat alto clarinet, E-flat contra-alto clarinet, and wooden flute.[1]

Bluiett died of complications from a stroke in Brooklyn, Illinois on October 4, 2018 at the age of 78.[2]
