Karachi Agreement
agreeement signed by India and Pakistan in 1949, supervised by the UN Commission for India and Pakistan, establishing a ceasefire line in Kashmir following the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947, which has been monitored by UN observers since then
The Karachi Agreement was a cease-fire agreement signed by Pakistan and India on the 27th of July 1949. It established a cease-fire line which could be monitored by observers from the United Nations. The Agreement was signed by the following:
- Major General W. J Cawthorn, Government of Pakistan.
- Lieutenanat-General S.M Shrinagesh, Government of India.
- Hernando Samper and M Delvoie United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan.
