A Queen consort of England is the wife of the reigning king of England and serves as his consort. The title is held by the king's wife, who serves as the female equivalent of the king and shares certain formal privileges and responsibilities. However, unlike a queen regnant, who is the ruler in her own right, a queen consort holds no official power and plays a largely ceremonial role, accompanied by the monarch on official engagements and receiving visiting heads of state.
