Early life Time magazine link change

There was a Time link cited three times to support text in the Early life section. The link is dead, and the archive is so minimal that it does not support any of the text, especially this "Dole himself lived here during his political career." That may have been his legal residence, but I doubt very much that he actually lived there. --Gotanda (talk) 09:41, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

High school ref has problems change

The wayback machine link for high school graduation is title Hebron High School 1914, which is a different school and possibly just a date typo, but the grab at wayback is vague and may not be reliable anyway.

"Hebron High School 1914 Alumni". Archived from the original on May 30, 2005.

Needs a proper ref. --Gotanda (talk) 09:57, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Early life "Man of the Year" ref change

This is not independent. All of these claims should be able to be supported with independent refs, not a college fraternity PR site. Of course Kappa Sigma, like any frat, would praise its alumni. Not a reputable source for a good article. --Gotanda (talk) 10:04, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Missing NYT Ref change

Ref 11, Katharine Q. Seelye (April 14, 1996). "War Wounds Shape Life, and Politics, for Dole". The New York Times. has no link or URL. --Gotanda (talk) 10:07, 30 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Bad ref Avery change

This ref did not at all support the statements it was attached to. One statement may be wrong as a result.

"Dole-Avery Debate, 1968". Dole Archive Collections. Retrieved May 8, 2021.

It is just an image of a primary debate. Looks like Dole beat Avery in the primary. Carlson is not mentioned. --Gotanda (talk) 06:42, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Quote "conservative enough" not found in source change

This ref does not contain the statement. Even if it did, it was not from "many" it was from a group of religious ultra-conservatives.

"Dole's moderate candidacy miffs GOP's conservative Christians Big enough to be courted, small enough to be ignored; CAMPAIGN 1996; REPUBLICAN CONVENTION". The Baltimore Sun. August 14, 1996. Retrieved May 8, 2021.

Citation needed or the quote removed and the statement cleaned up to reflect the article. --Gotanda (talk) 06:54, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
