Do root cells have chlorophyll in them?
- No, because roots cells don't have chloroplasts which in turn don't have chlorophyll in them. It's underground so it will not be exposed to sunlight to obtain energy hence why roots can only transport water and nutrients from the coil to the leaves via xylem and phloem. However as leaves are exposed to sunlight being above the ground, they have chloroplasts to absorb sunlight as a source of enery in its chlorophyll. Nifky^ 13:07, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
