Binomial name change

How come under "Binomial name" section of the taxobox, it says "Linnaeus, 1988" even though Carolus Linnaeus was long dead before 1988, and could not name the genus of a cobra in his coffin? Ionas Rand [i.'ɔ.na.sız tɔk] 23:12, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Maybe because it refers to Linnaean taxonomy, not to Carolus Linnaeus himself? Phaedriel - 23:16, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
No it actually refers to the person who personally named the species, in this case Linnaeus. The problem is that our version is based of the en:wp page which was vandalized in August 2006 and no one caught it (the person self-reverted all but the naming date of the edit in question). I corrected both our version and the en:wp version to the correct year (1758). -- Creol(talk) 14:54, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
