If it's divided between more than one country it isn't an island, by definition. Australia is an island, but it isn't a continent. It's part of austral-asia or something. -- Tango 09:56, 28 May 2004 (UTC)Reply

  • An island is an island no matter how many countries or any political subdivision are in it. Examples are Hispaniola and Borneo. Australia is both an island and a continent. Jordz
