Talk: Simple Lacrosse change
I found a few things in this paragraph which I'm pretty sure; are wrong or unclear.
Relation to Hockey change
I was thought that the game was invented by Native Americans and later on a French bishop renamed the game to lacrosse and adopted the rules of Field-Hockey to it.
So I don't think Field-Hockey is based on lacrosse, but kind of, the other-way around.
But personally I think the game looks more like Ice-Hockey.
Rules of Contact change
Players are allowed to make contact to other players (in mens lacrosse) when the ball is on the ground, within a certain perimeter around the ball (distance varies per country). If someone has the ball in their head (net), it's allowed to give this person body-checks with fists or shoulders on to the opponents hips to shoulders. It is also allowed to check the opponents stick with your stick, with the purpose of getting the ball out of the opponents head.
If checks are correctly executed, there is no penalty or faul in play.
Correct terms change
- Net = Mesh (It looks like a net, but it's much tougher)
- Head = Head (The frame where the mesh is strung)
- Pocket = The hollow shape in the mesh.
Suggestions change
- Maybe it's a nice idea to mention the differences between mens, ladies, mixed and box lacrosse as well.
