Confusing sentence change

(The following problem, has been corrected.)

Confusing sentence:

"The parliament is called the Storting (in Norwegian: Stortinget), "

Storting and Stortinget are both Norwegian for Parliament, they are just two forms of the same noun.

Removal of text change

This sentence has been removed : "but the country is also very dependent on the prices of oil and fish in international markets."

Reason : From its (improved) context, the sentence is now too obvious. Cheers, Lithmus Today (talk) 00:36, 12 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Overly complicated text. change

Removed text :

"constitutional"

("Norway is a constitutional kingdom")

Reason : The sentence is possibly too complicated for Simple English Wiki.

Futhermore, I expect to make a footnote, concerning the sentece. Something along the lines of "The constitution of Norway, is the document that authorized King Haakon. And his successors." As soon as convenient.
It is "enough", for now, to say that :
  • The kingdom of Norway ...
  • The head of state is King Harald ...

If someone can handle complicated text, then one is likely to be using English wiki, mainly. And Simple wiki, to a lesser degree.

All in all, Simple wiki should be kept ... ( drum roll ) ..... simple ! Cheers, Lithmus Today (talk) 00:29, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

How about you be Bold and fix it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by FastReverter (talkcontribs)

I am not sure if the following is correct :

"... the Sami people, live mainly in the northern parts of the country; many of them are native speakers of one of the Sami languages."

The sentence probably needs to be re-worded.

Perhaps along the lines of "Historically, ... have been living .... Cheers, Lithmus Today (talk) 00:43, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Then make the corrections and if they don't seem right somebody will fix them. VandalFighterFR(V) Bad warning? 00:56, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

""supervises the supervisors"" change

"...prime minister, who supervises the supervisors of the various ministries, including : "

In this article things ought to be kept simple, one thinks. ( This phrase "supervises the supervisors", is simple, ( and to the point ).
If one wants to use the terms "Minister of Department ...", then that should be included in seperate articles, regarding the various departments, one thinks. Cheers, Lithmus Today (talk) 11:25, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Feedback regarding links, is needed. change

The "history-paragraph", probably needs to be linked to (unwritten) articles , such as :

Medieval Norway

Links of this type, should be planned carefully.

Are these links satisfactory?

(Also, there is arguably not too much simple encyclopedic information about Norway. Possible because, Norway is not the center of the world, in some/many respects. ) Cheers, Lithmus Today (talk) 12:03, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

King Harald the First. change

" Harald Fairhair " and Harald Hårfagre,

are alternate names that probably belong in a seperate article.

( Keep information simple, in a general article about a broad subject. Thanks. ) Lithmus Today (talk) 13:23, 13 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

it is a great nation, truly great.

New government change

As of October 2013, Norway has a new government, with Erna Solberg as prime minister. The article should be updated. -PeterFisk (talk) 06:59, 24 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Why mention "Since 2013, the Norwegian Minister of Defence is Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide.[1]". Sju hav (talk) 15:42, 16 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Norwegian Politics change

The section should be updated, with more political parties. Can help anyone whom wants to do it with information about the various parties.

Reason I'm not doing it, is because I don't think I can keep it simple.

Which positions are most important after the prime minister change

Someone might want to find sources that say which minister is in the Line of succession after the prime minister.

The minister of finance and the justice minister, are arguably both more powerful than the minister of defence. Sju hav (talk) 15:46, 16 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

What should be said about the cultural history change

I am not sure how any of these points about Cultural history of Norway should be written into the article:

"Norway also has a rich cultural history, going all the way back to the age of the Vikings, and up to today with several writers and painters. The most famous Norwegian cultural person is probably Henrik Ibsen who wrote several plays and novels, and they often upset people because he challenged popular attitudes such as the role of women. Other famous writers include Knut Hamsun, Jonas Lie, Amalie Skram and more recently, Jens Bjørneboe. Famous painters and musicians include Edvard Munch, Theodor Kittelsen, Ole Bull and Edvard Grieg." The fishing industry change

The info is maybe too detailed for the Norway article.
(Fishing industry of Norway, might be a better article, in which to put in the info.)
