History of Tokyo change
The article about Tokyo (東京, Tōkyō, "Eastern Capital") covers everything about Tokyo from 1457 through the present.
The relationship between the versions of Tokyo is not easy to simplify:
- 1457-1869: historical Edo (江戸, Edō)
- 1869-1943: historical Tokyo Prefecture (東京府, Tokyo-fu)
- 1869-1943: historical Tokyo, Tokyo (東京市, Tōkyō-shi)
- 1943-present: Tokyo (東京都, Tōkyō-to), redirect Tokyo Metropolis
