Tomi Ungerer

French illustrator and writer

Tomi Ungerer (born Jean-Thomas Ungerer; 28 November 1931 – 9 February 2019) was a French graphic artist and writer. Ungerer became known for his illustrations, and for writing childtren's books. Some of his illustrations and books were controversial.

Ungerer won the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1998.

Ungerer was born in 1931, in Strasbourg; he died on February 9, in Cork, aged 87.[1]
