Vologda Oblast

Vologda Oblast (Russian: Вологодская область, tr. Vologodskaya oblast, IPA: [vəlɐˈɡotskəjə ˈobləsʲtʲ]) is a federal subject of Russia. Specifically, it is an oblast. Its administrative center (capital city) is Vologda, but the largest city is Cherepovets, home to the Severstal metallurgical plant, the largest industrial company in the oblast.

Geography change
Vologda Oblast borders Arkhangelsk Oblast, Kirov Oblast, Kostroma Oblast, Yaroslavl Oblast, Tver Oblast, Novgorod Oblast, Leningrad Oblast, and the Republic of Karelia. Most of the oblast's land area is covered by swamps, hills, and taiga. Vologda Oblast and the Republic of Karelia split the freshwater Lake Ladoga, the largest lake fully in Europe.
