At 6:00 am, heavy fighting broke out inside the houses of Hamek. The enemy attacked the village with all kinds of heavy and light weapons, including mortars, heavy artillery and machine guns. In the morning, most of the houses in the village had collapsed. The fighting continued until 7:00 pm. As a result, the ba'hs was defeated and 62 soldiers and jashes were killed. That left the bodies of 43 soldiers. After this war, Saddam Hussein nicknamed Mama Risha as the Iron Man. This battle is mentioned in a Kurdish drama called Gardelul.
