Derek McInnes

Scottish association football player and manager

Derek John McInnes (born 5 July 1971 in Paisley, Renfrewshire) is a former professional footballer and current manager of Kilmarnock.

Playing career change

McInnes played for Greenock Morton, Rangers, West Bromwich Albion and Dundee United during his playing career.

Managerial career change

McInnes became manager of St. Johnstone in November 2007. He helped the club gain promotion to the Scottish Premier League in 2009 and kept that status for two seasons.

McInnes was made manager of Bristol City on 19 October 2011.[1] He was sacked as manager of the club on 12 January 2013.[2]

After leaving Bristol City, McInnes became manager of Scottish club Aberdeen on 25 March 2013.[3] He helped them win the 2014 Scottish League Cup, winning the final 4–2 on penalties. He stayed there for eight years, before leaving by mutual consent on 8 March 2021.[4]

In January 2022 McInnes was made manager of Scottish club Kilmarnock.[5]
