Diahann Carroll

American actress, singer, model and activist (1935–2019)

Diahann Carroll (born Carol Diahann Johnson; July 17, 1935 – October 4, 2019) was an American television and stage actress and singer. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. Later she played the role of Dominique Deveraux on the popular soap opera, Dynasty. [1]

Carroll was born in the Bronx and raised in Harlem. She was briefly engaged to British journalist David Frost. In 1997, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but was cancer-free after radiation therapy.[2] Carroll died of cancer on October 4, 2019 in Los Angeles at the age of 84.[3]
