File:8 Flora symbol (1852).svg

Original file(SVG file, nominally 40 × 52 pixels, file size: 4 KB)

Summary

Description The traditional astronomical symbol for 8 Flora, after Gould, B.A. 1852, On the Symbolic Notation of the Asteroids, Astron. J., 2, 80. As the number of asteroids grew, the symbols got more and more complex, leading to the creation of Minor Planet Numbers. This stylised flower is perhaps the most difficult to date, with its fairly complicated curves. Still, 10 Hygiea would get much worse.
