Deutsch: Das Wappen des Landkreises Darmstadt-Dieburg wurde am 16. Juni 1978 vom hessischen Innenministerium verliehen. Das Rad steht für das ehemalige Fürstbistum Mainz, der Löwe, welcher hier nicht herschauend gezeichnet ist, für die Obergrafschaft Katzenelnbogen, deren Sitz Darmstadt war. Die Sterne stehen für die 23 Städte und Gemeinden des Kreises und sind dem alten Darmstadter Kreiswappen entnommen, das 41 Sterne zeigte.
English: The arms were officially granted on June 16, 1978. The lion in the arms shows the lion of the County of Katzenelnbogen, who had one of their main estates and castles in the city of Darmstadt. The wheel is the wheel of the Electorate of Mainz, as part of the district was part of this State. The stars represent the municipalities in the district.
