Object history
Deutsch: Seit 1812 ist das Wappen, das seit dem 18. Jahrhundert erwähnt wird, durch Abbildungen belegt. Es geht auf eine Verleihung von 1541 durch Markgraf Georg Friedrich von Ansbach für Bürgermeister, Rat und Gericht von Landeck zurück. Der halbe Adler ist das brandenburgische Wappenbild in geminderter Form. Der Turm stellt die Burg Landeck dar, die Sitz des Gerichts war. Der Amtssitz - und damit auch das Gerichtssiegel - wurde von Landeck nach Thalmässing verlegt. Der Markt übernahm das Wappen und das Siegel. In der Literatur steht bis Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts der halbe Adler schwarz in Gold, die Burg in silbernem Feld.
