Object history

Deutsch: Die seit 1244 nachweisbaren Siegel der Reichsstadt enthalten den Reichsadler, der oben zeitweilig von einem Stern und einer Lilie begleitet ist. Der geteilte Schild als das eigentliche Stadtwappen ist seit 1351 in den Siegeln belegt, wo er zunächst in den Fängen des Adlers, später als dessen Brustschild erscheint. Mit der Mediatisierung (nach 1803) fiel der Reichsadler weg, während das in farbigen Darstellungen seit der Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts überlieferte von Schwarz und Silber geteilte Stadtwappen, das bisher nicht sicher gedeutet ist, weitergeführt wurde.
