Русский: Азербайджанская Социалистическая Советская Республика была провозглашена при установлении советской власти в г.Баку 28 апреля 1920 года. По мнению известного советского флаговеда Л.Н.Стрельцова, ссылавшегося на архив К.И.Дунина-Барковского, наряду с красными революционными флагами первое время неофициально употреблялся и красный флаг с изображением в верхнем крыже у древка белой 5-конечной звезды и белым полумесяцем, обращенным к древку. Например, такой флаг изображен на плакате, посвященном запрету многоженства, выпущенном в г.Баку в 1921 году.
