A Tudor-era mansion known as the Great House, used by Queen Elizabeth I in 1574 on a visit to the city. Edward Colston established his on Saint Augustine's Back, Bristol, at the site of the later en:Colston Hall (built in the 1860s).

Edward Colston's school for boys was housed in here between 1707 and 1861.
