Summary

Description
English: Late stage dying hypergiants--like VY Canis Majoris--have enormouse masses that are difficult to measure. While the star itself is incredibly large--over 1800 times the size of our sun--it's mass is being ejected in a wide, far-reaching corona that spreads out like a swirling fir in space to over 2100 times the size of the sun.
