Das Wappen des Lahn-Dill-Kreises wurde am 4. August 1980 verliehen und ist aus zwei Teilen der Wappen der früher selbständigen Kreise Wetzlar und Dillkreis zusammengesetzt worden.
Im oberen Teil symbolisiert der Doppeladler die ehemals Freie Reichsstadt Wetzlar; im unteren Teil stehen das Jagdhorn und der Löwe für das frühere Fürstentum Nassau. [1]
