The special page Special:PasswordReset is useful sometimes. These will be listed bellow.
Forgotten password change
If you have forgotten your password and you have already entered an email address when signing up for the account or in your Preferences page, and you can get into the email you used when you signed up then this special page can help you get back in your account.
Go to Special:PasswordReset. You can enter your username or your email. If you know your email but not your username then only enter your email. The system will send a password to that email address that will let you into your account After doing this be sure to change your password.
Forgotten username change
If you have forgotten your username you might be able to get the system to tell you if
- ...you have already entered an email address when signing up for the account or in your Preferences
- ...still have access to that email account
- ...you have not turned on the preference requiring you to enter both your username and email to receive a password reset
then this special page can help you back in to your account: Go to Special:PasswordReset and enter your email address, and the system will send an email containing a reminder of your user name. It is the same as listed above.
Restrictions change
- Special:ResetPassword can not be used if you are not logged in and the IP you are using is currently blocked.
