Iron planet

An iron planet is a planet whose core consists of mostly iron. These planets often have a small mantle and a very large core. Mercury is known to be an iron-rich planet - and is the largest celestial body in the Solar System to be so.
In science fiction, these planets are sometimes called "cannonballs".
