Iván Rodríguez Torres (born November 30, 1971), nicknamed "Pudge,"[2] is a retired Puerto Rican baseball player. He played as a catcher in Major League Baseball. Rodriguez played for the Texas Rangers, Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, Houston Astros and Washington Nationals. He is well known for his strong arm and his ability to throw out baserunners. Rodríguez is widely considered the greatest defensive catcher of all time, and most analysts think either Rodríguez or Johnny Bench is the greatest catcher overall. He became a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017.
