James Wan

Malaysian-Australian director, producer, screenwriter, and comic book writer

James Wan (born 26 February 1977) is an Australian movie producer, screenwriter and movie director. He is best known for directing the horror movie Saw (2004) and creating Billy the Puppet. He also directed the movies Dead Silence (2007), Death Sentence (2007), Insidious (2010), The Conjuring (2013), Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), Furious 7 (2015), The Conjuring 2 (2016) and Aquaman (2019).

Wan and Leigh Whannell served as executive producers for the Saw franchise with the movies Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter, Annabelle: Creation and Jigsaw. He was also a producer for the horror movie The Curse of La Llorona (2019).

Wan was born in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. He is of Chinese ancestry. When he was seven, Wan moved with his family to Perth, Western Australia. He later lived in Melbourne, Victoria.[1] He married Romanian-born actress Ingrid Bisu in 2019.
