Lyndon is a city in Osage County, Kansas, United States.[4] It is also the county seat of Osage County. In 2020, 1,037 people lived there.[3]

History change

Lyndon was created in 1869. It was created after the land in the area was taken from the Sac and Fox Nation and opened for settlement.[5] It was named after Lyndon, Vermont.[6]

Geography change

Lyndon is at 38°36′37″N 95°41′7″W / 38.61028°N 95.68528°W / 38.61028; -95.68528 (38.610233, -95.685352).[7] The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.89 square miles (2.31 km2). All of it is land.[2]

Climate change

Lyndon has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Lyndon has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[8]

2020 census change

The 2020 census says that there were 1,037 people, 424 households, and 291 families living in Lyndon. Of the households, 72.9% owned their home and 27.1% rented their home.

The median age was 35.1 years. Of the people, 94.4% were White, 0.1% were Native American, 0.1% were Black, 0.1% were Asian, 0.1% were Pacific Islanders, 0.1% were from some other race, and 5.1% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.6% of the people.[3][9]

2010 census change

The 2010 census says that there were 1,052 people, 422 households, and 285 families living in Lyndon.[10]
