Maurice Green

American virologist

Maurice Green (May 5, 1926 – December 5, 2017) was an American virologist. His research career spanned more than 60 years. He was thought as a pioneer in the study of animal viruses, in particular their role in cancer.[1] Green founded the Institute of Molecular Virology Archived 2017-08-15 at the Wayback Machine[2] at St. Louis University School of Medicine in the late 1950s, and served as its Chairman until his death in 2017. He was born in New York City.

Green died in St. Louis, Missouri on December 5, 2017 of natural causes at the age of 91.[3]
