Melvin H. Evans
American politician (1917-1984)
Melvin H. Evans (August 7, 1917 – November 27, 1984) was the first elected Governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands. He was also the first Black governor of the territory. He was governor from July 1, 1969 to January 6, 1975.
He was a member of the Republican Party.
