Merida

municipality in Extremadura, Spain

Mérida (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈmeɾiða]) is the capital of Extremadura, an autonomous community in Spain. It has 55,000 inhabitants and is an important Roman center, with the theatre and the bridge over the Guadiana river.
