Map of Greenland

Module:Location map/data/Greenland is a location map definition used to overlay markers and labels on an equirectangular projection map of Greenland. The markers are placed by latitude and longitude coordinates on the default map or a similar map image.

Usage

These definitions are used by the following templates when invoked with parameter "Greenland":

Map definition

  • name = Greenland
Name used in the default map caption
  • image = Greenland edcp location map.svg
The default map image, without "Image:" or "File:"
  • image1 = Greenland edcp relief location map.jpg
An alternative map image, usually a relief map, which can be displayed via the relief or AlternativeMap parameters
  • x = 50.0 + 302.4185124782328 * ((1.5794425159987988-($1* pi / 180)) * sin(0.9479693044294399 * ($2 +42.5) * pi / 180))
An expression to calculate a location on the map via its longitude; evaluates as 0 along the left edge and 100 along the right edge
  • y = 50.0 + 0.70760934691432 * 302.4185124782328 * 0.006767623881934526 - 0.70760934691432 * 302.4185124782328 * (0.32280545456288157 - (1.5794425159987988-($1* pi / 180)) * cos(0.9479693044294399 * ($2 +42.5) * pi / 180))
An expression to calculate a location on the map via its latitude; evaluates as 0 along the top edge and 100 along the bottom edge

Alternative map

The {{Location map}}, {{Location map many}}, and {{Location map+}} templates have parameters to specify an alternative map image. The map displayed as image1 can be used with the relief or AlternativeMap parameters. Examples may be found below or in the following:

Examples using location map templates

Location map, using default map (image)

Nuuk (Godthåb)
Nuuk (Godthåb) (Greenland)
{{Location map | Greenland
| width = 200
| lat_deg = 64.18
| lon_deg = -51.74
| label = Nuuk (Godthåb)
}}

Location map many, using relief map (image1)

Nuuk (Godthåb)

Qaanaaq (Thule)
Two locations in Greenland
{{Location map many | Greenland
| relief = yes
| width = 200
| caption = Two locations in Greenland
| lat1_deg = 64.18
| lon1_deg = -51.74
| label1 = Nuuk (Godthåb)
| lat2_deg = 77.47
| lon2_deg = -69.23
| label2 = Qaanaaq (Thule)
}}

Location map+, using AlternativeMap

Nuuk (Godthåb)

Qaanaaq (Thule)
Two locations in Greenland
{{Location map+ | Greenland
| AlternativeMap = Greenland edcp relief location map.jpg
| width = 200
| caption = Two locations in Greenland
| places =
  {{Location map~ | Greenland
  | lat_deg = 64.18
  | lon_deg = -51.74
  | label = Nuuk (Godthåb)
