Mohammed Alzubi

Saudi Arabian venture capitalist

Mohammed Alzubi is a venture capitalist and the founder of Nama Ventures, a venture capital fund that invests in early-stage tech startups in the MENA region.[1][2] He was one of the co-founders of TechWadi.

Early life and education

Alzubi has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the London Business School.[3]

Career

Alzubi began his career in technology, consulting for companies like Cisco Systems, Sun Microsystems, and American Express. Later, he founded Sulaf Solutions, a tech company based in Silicon Valley.[4][5]

He worked in different roles, such as director of technology investments at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, managing director of Tharwa Capital, and leader of the venture capital practice at Global Investment House.[3]

He also co-founded TechWadi, a nonprofit organization that connects Arab-American tech entrepreneurs with resources and networks in Silicon Valley, California.[6]

Nama Ventures

In 2019, Alzubi started Nama Ventures, which invests in early-stage tech startups in the MENA region. Nama Ventures fund I is a sector agnostic fund that has invested in over 45 companies in areas like fintech, proptech, and entertainment tech.[1]

Some of the notable investments by Nama Ventures include Salla,[7] Tamara,[8] Calo,[9] Rize,[10] BrevDev,[11] and many others.[12][13][14][15][16][17][18] BrevDev, which Nama Ventures backed in June 2022, was later acquired by Nvidia.[19][20]

Alzubi is also an active angel investor and a member of Sand Hill Angels. He cofounded Riyadh Angel Investors (RAI) and he also advises several incubators, including In5 in Dubai, Oasis 500 in Jordan, and WomanSpark in Riyadh.[3][21]
