Otodus

genus of sharks (fossil)

Carcharocles, also known as Otodus or Carcharocles megalodon, is a species of giant shark that lived during the Cenozoic era in the Middle Miocene epoch. It lived at the same time and place as sea-dwelling mammals, which were its favorite prey options. It was a predator in its own right, and one of the largest sharks ever.

This picture features Otodus as being more nurse shark-like and having a closed mouth.

Otodus had a lot of prey options, ranging from whales, to mammals who spent their lives in water.

Otodus has appeared in series such as Life On Our Planet, and movies like The Meg. It made an inactive appearance in the novel The Lost World.
