Pierre Pincemaille
Pierre Pincemaille (born in Paris, 8 December, 1956; died in Suresnes, 12 January, 2018) was a French organist and pedadogue.[1] He is known to be a master of improvisation.[2]
Life change
Pierre Pincemaille started to study the organ in 1968. He graduated from the Paris Conservatory with five first prizes (in harmony, counterpoint, fugue, organ and improvisation).
He was appointed titular organist at the Basilica of St Denis in Saint-Denis (near Paris) in 1987.
Between 1978 and 1990, he won five international organ competitions (Lyon, Beauvais, Strasbourg, Montbrison, and Chartres).
He was professor in schools of music, especially in Lyon national conservatory (between 2003 and 2005) and in Paris national conservatory (between 2005 and 2018).
He gave more than 1000 concerts and recitals all around the world, including France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Canada, United States, and South Africa.[3]
He recorded around 20 CDs, with for example the complete organ work of César Franck and Maurice Duruflé, the 10 symphonies of Charles-Marie Widor, the written work of Pierre Cochereau, and improvisation work.
He was knight of Ordre des Palmes Académiques, knight of Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and knight of Order of St. Gregory the Great.
