city and administrative center of Smolensk Oblast in central Russia
Smolensk is a city in Russia. It is located on the Dnieper River, and 360 kilometers (220 mi) west-southwest of Moscow. It is the administrative center of Smolensk Oblast. As of 2014, the population was 330,000.
