An internet celebrity (or social media celebrity) is a person who becomes famous on the internet or social media. They are also called social media influencers or internet personalities. Social media allows people to quickly become famous around the world.

Today, internet celebrities are found on social media websites such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, WeChat, TikTok, QQ, Snapchat, Telegram, Twitter, Twitch, and Reddit.[1] Many internet celebrities such as Charli D'Amelio, Addison Rae, Bella Poarch and Lil Tay also have careers in music or acting.

Some internet celebrities promote a particular lifestyle or activity. They can help create trends/fads in fashion, cooking, technology, traveling, video games, movies, Esports, politics, music, sports, entertainment, etc.[2] Some companies will pay them to advertise products.
