Subsidized housing

Subsidized housing is the idea to create housing opportunities (usually flats) for people who have trouble finding a flat on the free market. Usually, this means that there is a maximum rent. Very often, the government pays part (or all) of this rent. People who get the apartments or flats need to meet certain criteria.

Karl Marx Hof in Vienna is a famous housing complex, built in the late 1920s. It is rectangular, over 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) long, and probably among the biggest such buildings in the world
