Talk:Interracial marriage

Article quality change

I flagged this article as having issues (apologies if I did it wrong; I'm new to these templates). I'm concerned by a few details:

  • For such a short article, this is weirdly, intensely focused on examples of interracial marriage involving Chinese people. The full English Wikipedia article does not have this issue. In fact, I believe this article would be improved right away by simply replacing it with a simplified version of the first paragraph from that article, even if it is awkwardly US-centric.
  • The last two paragraphs ("The son of Chinese politician Bo Xilai, Bo Guagua engaged in interracial mixing with English women" and "Many Han Chinese moved to Africa and married African women") are not really adding anything. They are simply dubious examples of interracial marriage with a strangely political undertone. They do not work to explain what interracial marriage is, or its implications.
  • Importantly, the article limits the concept of interracial marriage to these very specific examples even though it is common all around the world.

I believe the article about Same-sex marriage would be a good template for this one. It manages to explain what same-sex marriage is, as well as the legal situation.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dylan McCall (talkcontribs) 20:08, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sources change

I agree with much of the above. All controversial statements should be backed by sources, At present the page is of poor quality, and should have been flagged long ago. Macdonald-ross (talk) 13:21, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
