Talk:System of units

Latest comment: 10 years ago by Martinvl

I removed the sentence about economic units. If Keynes work is read, it will be seen that he is writing about "units of account", not "units of measurement". The only unit of measurement that he mentions is money. All the quanities mentioned in the book such as units of labour, units of production etc are measured in terms of money - money is the unit of measurement and is the only unit of measurement used by Keynes.

PS, this book was first written in 1936. The 2006 copy to which you refer is an out-of-copyright reproduction.

The reliable source describes the "system of units" required. It is therefore relevant. Centaur (talk) 22:32, 9 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Please name the units that comprise the system of units concerned. If you reinstate the sentence without doing that I shall be reporting you on the vandalism noticeboard for continually inserting nonsense into the article. Martinvl (talk) 00:09, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Adding reliably sourced content with a context very relevant to the article is not vandalism. However, removing such content may well be seen as such. Centaur (talk) 07:29, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
You failed to answer my request to catalogue the units of measure listed in the source. That is because there is no system of units. You have therefore failed to show the relevance of your statement to the article. Please do not reinstate it until you have actually listed the units of measure mentioned in the article. BTW, did you actually read the citation that you quoted? If so, you should have no difficulty gathering the information that I have requested. Martinvl (talk) 17:55, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
The source describes it as a system of units. That trumps assertions of your personal opinion. Centaur (talk) 19:10, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
You either did not read the text, or you did not understand it. The text states "But, until a satisfactory system of units has been adopted, its precise definition is an impossible task." The author then goes on to describe how he gets around the absence of a system of units. Now please undo your last reversion. Martinvl (talk) 20:11, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I understand from it, confirmed by what you write above, that a "system of units" is being discussed in the context of the problems of the economic system. Centaur (talk) 22:25, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
...being discussed and being found not to exist. Now please remove the sentence which implies that they do exist. Martinvl (talk) 05:41, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
