Date format when tagging pages

Hello, Belwine. I noticed you made some changes like [Articles lacking sources from 20th November 2020 this one], where you specified the following:

{{No sources|date=20th November 2020}}

When you put a date on a maintenance tag, the format is to use only the month and year. This tag should have looked like this:

{{No sources|date=November 2020}}

When you use the incorrect format, it put the page in an incorrectly-named category. Please use the correct format when you add tags. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 04:30, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Oops, apologies for this. I will put it as just month and year in the future. Thank you for letting me know. :) Belwine (talk) 19:48, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Abdulla Mohtadi

Hello there, you recently added a QD template to Abdulla Mohtadi, stating it was based on the EnWP article. A quick comparisaon showed that some simplification was done, so the QD criterion no longer applies. If you still think the article should be deleted, please nominate it for discussed deletion. Thank you. --Eptalon (talk) 11:34, 25 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I did another comparison just to check, and I noticed that some parts were removed, but no language was simplified. I have filed another request for deletion, where we can discuss more. :) Belwine💬📜 11:46, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
Going through an RfD is fine. This give us time to discuss, and if needed to adapt the article to our audience. --Eptalon (talk) 11:52, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
Ok, many thanks and Merry Christmas if you celebrate it. Belwine💬📜 18:56, 25 December 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for my first help! Can you give me a signature format of your sign. I love your sign but I fail to do it in my setting. I didn't of my choice from WP:Signatures. TTP1233💬📜 Like this. TTP1233

Just copy and paste the following into the new signature settings here and it should work. I actually stole this signature off someone else, I've forgotten who now. :)

Just replace all the Belwine with TTP1233 and it should work. Belwine💬📜 12:25, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that we both made reverts at almost the exact same time in the article Naftalan. I reverted it to an even earlier version because the version you reverted to seems to be non-NPOV, and the language wasn't in simple English. I hope you don't mind. Thanks Fehufanga (talk) 12:29, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for this. I just saw the massive parts of text that had clearly came from the English Wikipedia and reverted them. Thanks for also reverting the non-NPOV edits. :) Belwine💬📜 12:32, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

Welcoming users

Thank you for welcoming users, however we usually don't do this until they make their first edit as opposed to when they create their account. Thanks, :) --IWI (talk) 17:22, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Oops, sorry. Thank you for letting me know. :) Belwine💬📜 17:23, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

I saw that you have a Wikipedia account on so can you please update this images as following:
1. File:India West Bengal Legislative Assembly 2020.svg in en:West Bengal Legislative Assembly
2. File:India Jharkhand Legislative Assembly 2019.svg in en:Jharkhand Legislative Assembly
3. File:UP MLC July 2020.svg in en:Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council
If you know which parameter you have to place, I know still I also want to say, add the images in | structure= parameter. I know how to do but I will start editing in English Wikipedia after 6 months when my IP address will unblock at that time. Do not say this to anyone ok!! Don't think I'm a vandialiser. And ping me or message me when it is done. TTP1233

Hi. Firstly, I'm not very active on English Wikipedia compared to Simple English Wikipedia.
Secondly, I can't make changes for you. I'm sorry if this causes any inconvenience. Your changes may be in good faith but you need to wait out your block.
I have a friend who is blocked for the user WP:BKFIP on EnWiki, despite doing nothing wrong at all. Your IP may have been blocked for this, or something else that someone on your IP has done.
Either way, if the changes I make are wrong, then I'll be the one to blame.
Please wait out the block and then make the edit. If people on the page revert the edit, then make sure to discuss it with them.
Many thanks. Belwine💬📜 12:14, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

On the reversion to an earlier edit

What is the purpose of you removing a link to provide more context on the "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" page? Hulksar2003 (talk) 18:46, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi. I'm responding on your talk page. :) I take a long time to type these things. Apologies. Belwine💬📜 18:50, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
I have responded. Please see your talk page. :) Belwine💬📜 19:33, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Ah, thank you. I understand now. For some reason, I didn't even realize that I was on the simple English version of Wikipedia. That explains why it said an article hadn't been created yet even though I saw it on the main Wikipedia. My mistake. And I don't have much to add on the subject of Louis Blanc unfortunately. I was just trying to learn more about the phrase and was intimidated by the large quantity of red links, once again not realizing which version of Wikipedia I was on. But in any case, thanks for clearing things up. Hulksar2003 (talk) 05:53, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

That's ok, it's nothing to worry about. :) Belwine💬📜 11:15, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

Indefinite Block of IPs

Hi Belwine, thanks a lot for your changes. You mentioned on VIP that you thought an IP address should be given an indefinite block. Please note that the maximum we really do on an IP is 6 months at an absolute last resort. IPs can change and so eventually, we will blocking someone unrelated to the vandal if indef. As a result, only accounts where we know who is editing can be blocked indefinitely. Thanks, --IWI (talk) 17:00, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Ah, I see. Thank you for this.
The editor was quite disruptive, was not willing to cooperate with quite a few other editors who reverted the changes and block evaded by changing IPs, which is why I said indef block. They had got a block on EnWikipedia as well as a previous one from DannyS712 here but I agree, IP addresses change and blocking someone who is completely different would not be a good idea.. The IP range is blocked for 3 months now for LTA but I think this editor will come back again on another IP address... Making IP blocks for a few months at a time max. makes sense, definitely.
Many thanks, :) Belwine💬📜 17:35, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Ok, when making articles that are on lists, don't copy from EnWikipedia though. Creating articles that are red links on lists is good IMO, it gets rid of red links, but make sure that it's not copied from EnWikipedia, and that it's simplified. Then you can add attribution on the talk page. Many thanks. Belwine💬📜 14:21, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
My response doesn't seem precise enough looking back now. You can copy from another Wikipedia, as long as it follows WP:How to copy from another Wikipedia, and as long as it isn't complex. Many thanks, Belwine💬📜 22:14, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Working together proposal

Are you willing to workwith me to prevent editing others from vandialism?KP (talk) 15:38, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes. I'd say at the moment we both revert vandalism on a regular basis, and technically, we all work together removing vandalism, we don't necessarily need to say it. There aren't many times where you need to work together on vandalism, unless there is a huge situation like there was the other day (see THIS page's history), but you can join Wikiproject Antivandalism here. Hello. I want you to check "talk" on my article Poshlaja Molly. Droppank (talk) 14:59, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

@Droppank: Hello. I've had a look. The article may be on the Russian Wikipedia, but it's worth noting that there are no Google News results for this band, meaning that there's not really enough independent coverage. I'd recommend discussing more on the RfD, which you can find here. Many thanks, Belwine💬📜 15:04, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

no. there are a lot of google news about poshlaja molly, just google "Пошлая Молли". Droppank (talk) 16:12, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

@Droppank: There appear to be a few results under this name, but on the second page, I'm seeing unrelated search results come up. Belwine💬📜 16:18, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

but i still dont understand. article has many good official references (i just don't know how to explain it, because i don't speak english very well) Droppank (talk) 04:30, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

also they're famous in russia, and you can check it on youtube, google, genius and etc Droppank (talk) 04:30, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Check WP:GNG. I personally don't think it meets gng requirements. A lot of the Google News stuff I've seen appears to be the festivals they're going to, it's not exclusively about them. Thanks, Belwine💬📜 12:22, 14 January 2021 (UTC)Пошлая_Молли — Preceding unsigned comment added by Droppank (talkcontribs) 18:51, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Tbh this article nearly meets notability requirements. I've only really been here for a couple of weeks and I'm not really experienced on this type of stuff so I'd recommend discussing more on the RfD where more of a consensus has been reached. Thanks, Belwine💬📜 19:14, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia articles

Hello dear friend, I owe you well, I'm going to stay, tell me if I'm allowed to move Wikipedia articles hereMrtanhaa (talk) 11:46, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I've written on your talk page. You can't copy word for word from English Wikipedia, you'll need to do some simplification and add attribution. I added attribution to the article you created. If you want to learn how to copy from, go to WP:How to copy from another Wikipedia. When simplifying, you can use WP:Basic English combined wordlist. If you need any more help, let me know, I'll be more than happy to help you! :) --Belwine💬📜 11:49, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for your help, I'm trying to make Wikipedia simple, my goal is not sabotage. Hoping for good days my friend.

If I did not follow a point, tell me. Thank youMrtanhaa (talk) 17:22, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

@Mrtanhaa: Ok, I just added talkback to check you've seen this. Btw, if you're copying from the English Wikipedia and no simplification is needed, you need to add attribution. Basically, add {{translated article|en|ARTICLE NAME|version=123}} to the new articles you create. Let me know if you need any help with this.   Belwine💬📜 17:25, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

Can I add a photo to the article? I'm a photographer, can I upload photos of articles myself? They do not have copyrightMrtanhaa (talk) 17:45, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes, feel free to add images that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.
Make sure to add attribution to the article. You can do this by going to the version you copied, getting the name and "oldid" and then adding it to the template {{translated article|en|ARTICLE NAME|version=123}}. Remember there should be at least some simplification. Thanks   Belwine💬📜 17:50, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
@Mrtanhaa: I see your pages have been requested for deletion but don't worry, you can still create good pages. Just remember to simplify using WP:Basic English combined wordlist or WP:Basic English ordered wordlist, read WP:How to copy from another Wikipedia and add attribution using the translated article template. Remember to ask me if you need help at all.   Belwine💬📜 18:11, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for your help, can I upload Javad Safaee's photo to Wiki commons? I am his photographer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrtanhaa (talkcontribs) 18:30, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

I'm not sure. If you created the photo yourself and you are allowed to use the photo, then you can upload to Commons. Definitely double check when uploading to UploadWizard on the commons. I am not an expert on copyright, so please upload to Commons at your own risk. If in doubt, go to the Help desk. Thanks, Belwine💬📜 19:15, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

EU Code Week

Hi, The page EU Code Week was deleted on 12 January after you suggested it to be deleted, although it says that the request will close on 19 January.

It is unclear how to dispute the deletion, but I added my arguments in the discussion on this page discussion page. I do not know if you have seen this message.

"I do not agree that the text is written like an add. The sentences are factual statements backed up with independent citations. There is no use of language that praises or promotes. The text is not copied, which could be easily proved with a simple Google search, as well as by checking the citations.

I am sorry to bother you, but it is not very easy to find one's way through publishing on Wikipedia. I hope you agree to publish the page.

Kind regards, AOestean (talk) 12:29, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello. Thanks for the message.
I was going to write a really long reply to this message, but decided against it at the final second.
The reason the page was deleted was because it sounded a bit like an advertisement, and it didn't sound very encyclopedic in my opinion. FYI, it was not deleted by me, it was deleted by Macdonald-ross (talkchangese-mailblocksprotectionsdeletionsmovesright changes). If you wanted to create the article again, you could, but EU Code Week doesn't seem to meet WP:N (notability) guidelines, and so it might be deleted again.
If you have any more questions about this, please ask me. Best, --Belwine💬📜 13:10, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

New here

Hey Belwine, I am new here, from ArWiki, Iraqi. I have some feelings about starting here, I don't know about SimEnWiki much. My english is fine, starts from middle school education, then internet and chating with English speaking people in social media. Iraq's first foreign language is Eng, but it's not my L2 and i am poor in grammer. What is your view? do you think i can work here? --Ruwaym (talk) 09:09, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

I think you could work here. Your English seems good. This is the Simple English Wikipedia, so your English doesn't have to be really advanced. See WP:Basic English combined wordlist (edit) and WP:Basic English ordered wordlist, see which words you know. You definitely won't end up using all the words on the wordlist, so don't worry if you don't know some of them. If you are familiar with a reasonable amount of the words on there, you should be able to write and extend articles. Finally, as you know, anyone can edit Wikipedia, so if you make any mistakes then others will fix it. Best,   Belwine💬📜 09:50, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. I know more than this words, the problem is my weak grammer while i know a lot of specific terms of my field, like literature and linguistics. I will try here, I am also blocked in EnWiki and no admin responds me there i was a newcomer and attacked another user they blocked me infinite. --Ruwaym (talk) 02:55, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Ok, that's good. If grammar is your only issue then that is ok, I can correct your changes.
I'm not an admin here, but I'm very happy to help you if you need any more help. Belwine💬📜 08:31, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
While our target audience is people that don't have a strong grasp on the English language. It is actually harder to write Simple English than regular English. It does take a strong grasp on the language to write it more simple. -Djsasso (talk) 16:42, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
As a native speaker, I find it relatively easy to speak in Simple English although when you're translating from another language -> English -> Simple English (it's not really translating, but it's changing the language further) it can be harder to write Simple English, you're basically translating twice IMO. Good point that I totally missed by a mile... Belwine💬📜 17:18, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
I gonna work on Arabic poetry and Arab poets biographies here, and maybe politics. --Ruwaym (talk) 00:53, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
Ok, something I didn't mention was taking a look at how en.wikipedia articles compare to articles here. I'd recommend doing that before writing here, personally. Thanks, --Belwine💬📜 20:05, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
  • I adopt this approach:
  1. Sentences in English wiki are too long: split them down into simpler sentences.
  2. Rework the words in the direction of being simple: imagine you are teaching intelligent 10-year olds.
  3. End up with something you might say to an intelligent child, but...
  4. ...respect the concept: if it really needs more space, give it more space, but phrase it simply.
  5. Better to break text into more sentences than to make sentences more complicated.
  6. To improve as a writer, read good English. Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:48, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

A slightly complicated text thing on John Wilkes Booth

So I was looking on at the page John Wilkes Booth when I noticed a piece of text describing his death.

This description was not showcased on "normal" Wikipedia until today (when I edited it) as it originally described him simply dying of shots fired by Boston Corbett.

The simple description was that he was shot, in constant pain, and died a slow and painful death of asphyxiation.

Thought you ought to know since it's kind of... not simple. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xdude gamer (talkcontribs) 19:55, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

You're only a sock puppet if you are abusing two accounts or more. From what I can see, you haven't been doing that. Belwine💬📜 10:26, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: Your articles seem to be good so far.
There could be some simplification done to them though. So instead of using "principal", you could use "main" or instead of using "ancient", you could use "very old".
Other than that, there don't seem to be any other issues. Maybe try getting more of a variety of sources in the articles?

Articles deleted

Hello Belwine! I have noticed some of my articles were deleted. Ngangkhaleima and Khuman Puremba are some. The reason was said to be because they are people. Actually, they are fictional characters, not real persons. But I think there'll be some way to save the articles. If there's, please suggest me. Haoreima (talk) 05:18, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Ok, apologies I wasn't able to answer quick enough. I'm in UTC/Wikipedia time, so it was only 5:18am for me then! Anyway, I don't think there's a way to save the articles. You may be able to get the article undeleted and moved to your user space, I am not sure whether that's possible but just a suggestion. Thanks, --Belwine💬📜 08:56, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for suggestion. Haoreima (talk) 08:59, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

So what do you think about the vishnu airtcle should i add more information about it? Or stay as it is (950CMR (talk) 17:47, 27 January 2021 (UTC))

(change conflict)  It is quite good, but I think it will need some spelling, punctuation and grammar corrections, mainly corrections with spacing after punctuation. I don't think you need to add much more information to it. --Belwine💬📜 17:50, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

The powers and abilities section is completely rad i'm thinking about adding citations to it but there's a problem I can't really find a authentic free bhagavata purana 950CMR (talk) 17:49, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

I think the powers and abilities section should be changed - some of the words are too complicated. --Belwine💬📜 17:51, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Yeah sure but some dude will say the powers and abilities section looks fishy that's why i'm thinking about adding citations to it but i will do it later since my Jio Quota has expired for today 950CMR (talk) 17:52, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Like metapotence? Some people will get confused because metapotence and omnipotence sounds and the definition itself is pretty similar 950CMR (talk) 17:53, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Both those words are too complicated IMO. For the powers and abilities section, just rewrite it and add reliable sources if you can. Belwine💬📜 17:54, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Although omnipotence is having limitless power and metapotence is having the power to do anything 950CMR (talk) 17:53, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Sure I will add it when my jio quota recovers if you don't know i'm talking about just see the jio airtcle in the Orginal Wikipedia 950CMR (talk) 17:57, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Aight so hear me out jio data quota restores in 12:50 am and it's currently 11:45 pm in my country so it won't take that time 950CMR (talk) 18:15, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

This might be an off-topic question but why atheists calls omnipotence the ability to everything when it's actually metapotence? 950CMR (talk) 18:16, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Do* 950CMR (talk) 18:18, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

This the reason why people thinks that metapotence and omnipotence are the same thing so imma gonna change omnipotence into having limitless power and metapotence name into having the power to do anything 950CMR (talk) 18:19, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Ok, goodbye, enjoy the rest of your day!   Belwine💬📜 19:43, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Also btw adding sources from iskon isn't allowed since only scholarly sources are allowed like the vishnu purana mahabharata kgm aka kisari Mohan Ganguli and bori critical edition and the Bhagavata purana if you want to improve vishnu airtcle keep these in mind you can always add sources from sacred texts 950CMR (talk) 19:46, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Isckon or iscon is an popular cult of Krishna if you didn't knew that bori critical edition isn't not free unlike kgm mahabharata so you will have to add sources from kgm mahabharata although bori critical edition is infinitely more reliable and more authentic keep that in mind tho 950CMR (talk) 19:49, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

A user's experience is not relevent to this, just so you know. Any user can make mistakes, and that user being experienced wasn't why I reverted you; it was because of the link he provided showing that that person may not have died. I only say this because you said that you should have checked his userpage. Best :) --IWI (talk) 21:24, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

The source appeared reliable enough, so I think it's fair you reverted. Also, I was telling the user "You can revert my edit by pressing (undo)" when the user would probably know about this after being on Wikipedia projects for 15 years, I should have checked the user page for that. However, for the actual article, I should have checked a bit more before reverting, and I apologise for that as well. Thanks :) --Belwine💬📜 21:28, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
On a completely unrelated note.. Do I have to add attribution to a page if I'm just copying the infobox and population table from the English Wikipedia? --Belwine💬📜 21:34, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Yes, I tend to do it in the edit summary, though when just adding an infobox. --IWI (talk) 09:24, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
Ok, so if I just say in the edit summary "creation - infobox and population table are from enwiki", would that be sufficient? --Belwine💬📜 09:29, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
Sure, and you can add the oldid if you want too. --IWI (talk) 09:36, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

I put the block notice on the talk page because the proxy needed to be told they were blocked, even though I don’t have admin rights here. Wagnerrrr (I think we need to talk) 19:30, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

Open proxies can be blocked at any time for any period of time, per m:Open proxy. Also, they were making changes that anyone would know full well cannot be on Wikipedia. A block should not come as a surprise to them. I also recall seeing similar changes earlier from a different IP, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was block evasion too. --Belwine💬📜 19:35, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

What are your thoughts on this page? To me I am not used to seeing a page about a movie that just lists the actors.

Thanks - PotsdamLamb (talk) 16:52, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Sure, the cast section is really long. I noticed the plot section was removed as it was too complicated, so that's probably why it's in the situation it's in right now. The plot section was actually just as complicated as the English Wikipedia, so I'm glad it's removed! I think the article would need some simplification before more expansion. Addressing uncategorized pages

Hi, Belwine. When you add one or more categories to a page that is marked as uncategorized, please try to categorize it fully instead of adding just one category. You added the Italian historian category to Loris Zanatta, but there are other categories that should be there: take a look at the ones I just added for examples.

When you add just one category to get a page out of the uncategorized category, it makes it less likely that anyone will find that page and add other categories that should be there.

Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 12:16, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. I'll admit that adding categories isn't something I'm best at, so when adding categories in the future, I'll make sure to add more categories. Thanks,   --Belwine💬📜 12:50, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Some basic ones for people are:
  • Year of birth (or decade or century, if that's as close as you can get) - or one of the year-of-birth-unknown type categories
  • Year of death (or decade or century, if that's as close as you can get) - or either 1) Living people or 2) year of death unknown
  • Category(ies) for their nationality and/or place of origin. Be as specific as possible: we have "people from" categories for cities in some cases.
  • Category(ies) for their profession
  • Category(ies) for anything else they're notable for (why do we care about them?)
Sometimes these categories can be combined. For example, you would use Category:American writers instead of separate categories for Americans and writers. A read-through of the article might give you other ideas of categories that can be included.
Hope that helps. --Auntof6 (talk) 13:03, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll add this section to my links so if I'm unsure about categories, I'll go here. --Belwine💬📜 13:05, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make changes here. But pages should not be moved without a good reason. They need to have a name that is accurate and simple, and that people will recognize. Wikipedia has some guidelines to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if users are talking about moving a page, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you have a question about this, please ask on Simple talk. Thank you. on Page Jobanjit Singh. Canthewikiman (talk) 19:54, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Please see "Wikipedia:No personal attacks". Talk about changes editors have made, not the editors. Personal attacks damage the community and scare away users. Please note that more personal attacks will lead to you being blocked for disruption. Thank you. Canthewikiman (talk) 19:55, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

@Canthewikiman: ? - I am not personally attacking anyone here, I am simply explaining why I nominated the page for quick deletion. I'm also not moving any page. The page is clearly advertising, and saying this is not a personal attack... --Belwine💬📜 19:58, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

@Canthewikiman: However, the subject of the page just isn't notable enough for Wikipedia, and the page is clearly advertising. Also, I think en:WP:BLP1E applies here. Thanks, --Belwine💬📜 20:10, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Additionally Times Of India's article isn't an interview it is the proper article where editor haven't played Q&A with him. Canthewikiman (talk) 20:09, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Nope en:WP:BLP1E doesn't applies here as article isn't related as same subject. Do you know what doesn BLP1E refers to? Can you explain? Canthewikiman (talk) 20:12, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

@Canthewikiman: Let's just go back to basics: what I nominated the article for quick deletion in the first place.
  1. G11 - obvious advertising. The article emphasises that Singh is the founder of VS Records, and there is a huge en:WP:REFBOMB for that too.
  2. A4 - doesn't claim to be notable. Just founding a company does not make you notable. Let's say I founded the charity shop in town - does that make me notable? No. Simply founding a company does not make you notable.
Ok, now on the subject of BLP1E. en:WP:BLP1E says " We generally should avoid having an article if reliable sources cover the person only in the context of a single event." - all sources generally seem to talk about VS Records and Singh together. That is the main thing he is known for. So, I think (99% sure), that BLP1E applies here, but that is not really very important and G11 and A4 also apply. Thanks, --Belwine💬📜 20:21, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Yes I think so, User is registered before two days and suddenly today user has created page Christinna Khan but when I check the English wikipedia log i found that page with same was created several of times by many user and now that all users are blocked so, I think this user is also a sock. Thanks BubblySnow  💬 14:00, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

"A" QD criteria

Please not these only apply to the mainspace, and can't be used to delete talk pages. The "G" criteria are the ones that can be used in all namespaces. Thanks, --IWI (talk) 16:06, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

Ok.. They appear in Twinkle, which is why I used it. Then again, Twinkle shows A3 as just "Article that exists on another Wikimedia project". Thanks for the information, Belwine (talk) 16:09, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Well this is valid, I will suggest why not we tweak the TW to only allow A criterions to be tagged when namespace is article. A3 isn't to be used for talk/user spaces as they might be confused about not having sandboxes and use those to simplify. However, if there isn't attribution, I will think it should meets G12. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 17:16, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Note that Twinkle only shows A criteria for articles and article talk pages. And about A3, it just shows "Article that exists on another Wikimedia project", when in reality, it is article that has not been simplified that exists on another Wikimedia project. Belwine (talk) 17:19, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
I will think limiting to Article alone will be beneficial. Actually Twinkle did have this bolded part, just not on the main menu, notice the "?" beside the criterion, hover your mouse over that and this part is shown. We can tweak to show the whole portion if is better? I had started a thread on ST so we might as well add to there, thanks :) Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 17:24, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, if I have anything else to say, I'll add there. Belwine (talk) 17:26, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

Dat Articler

Hey, I feel that Loss aversion is more of a wikt item and not really for wp. The reason being it is the definition of what it is, with no sources and no real explanation or anything deep about it. Thoughts? --PotsdamLamb (talk) 21:54, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

I feel like it is ok, it is a little more than a dictionary definition. Note the article I recently nominated for deletion, see here, had one sentence, but was expanded quite easily, and everybody said keep. --Belwine (talk) 22:23, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
I would have voted to keep on that too because I know there is a lot of information on that topic.  :) PotsdamLamb (talk) 22:32, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Last warnings

About this change you made: when there is already a last warning on the page, it doesn't help to leave another last warning. It just makes it look like the last warnings don't mean anything. The action to take if the user continues the problem edits is to report at VIP. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:29, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi. I gave a level 4 warning again as I was unsure whether the level 4 warning from IWI was necessary - I just saw that it went from level 2 to level 4. However, I should have really done a level 2 warning then a level 3 warning, instead of two level 2 warnings, so I understand why IWI warned level 4 now.
Also, are welcomes level 1 warnings or are they like level 0 warnings? Thanks. --Belwine (talk) 19:45, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Welcomes are not warnings at all. Neither are notices that a page has been nominated for QD or RFD. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:13, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
Ok, I'll always make sure that I start on level 1 after welcomes.
Whilst QD notices do not count as warnings, I assume these do count as warnings.
Thanks, --Belwine (talk) 20:22, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
(change conflict)  There is no firm rules on how users should be warned, it is just advised they at least receive some warnings before a block happens, except with LTAs, socks, and obvious vandal only accounts. Generally, logged-in users can be blocked with fewer warnings than IPs as we know they are connected to one person. It can sometimes become clear quickly that an account has been created for spam or vandalism only. There is no rule that says you must give the four warnings before a block. You don't even have to use the template warnings, though it is probably the best method. --IWI (talk) 20:24, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
@ImprovedWikiImprovment: While that is true, when I look at the VIP entries, I want to see more than just a final or only warning, except in cases of things like personal attacks, legal threats, etc. The idea is to try to encourage people to be constructive contributors by giving them a chance to see that there's a limit to what we'll tolerate instead of blocking them for their first edit. Some people (and I've seen this in the business world) think they can do whatever they want just because they're allowed to edit here. The warnings are designed to explain that that's not the case, starting with lower-level warnings ("Hey, guy, that's not cool, there are rules here") and graduating to higher-level ones ("OK, we've given you chances to clean up your act: if you keep this up we'll block you.") --Auntof6 (talk) 20:34, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
@Belwine: Yes, those count as warnings. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:34, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the information. --Belwine (talk) 20:26, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

@Auntof6: I agree completely, I was just pointing out the four warnings aren't to die by, and I often start at level 2 or higher for more serious vandals. Accounts being created and immediatley making personal attacks should be blocked without comment, as you said. In run-of-the-mill vandals, I would typically give 4 warnings with the hope they will make helpful changes instead. --IWI (talk) 20:38, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

VIP Board

Hey Belwine - You should not be reverting the VIP board, they still need to be reported and put into the archives so there is a record of it. Only admins should be deleting anything off of there. I deleted two things last night which were my own because of a huggle configuration error and they fixed it. Thanks PotsdamLamb (talk) 21:48, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

I just want to note that there are no archives on VIP. I mainly reverted it because the user has been confirmed as a sock of an LTA on Commons, and the user was already blocked here when you reported.
Sometimes, LTAs go on VIP, and it is not very fun, so I reverted your entry to prevent LTAs from responding. I don't think this LTA is very active here though, so I'm fine with you keeping the report there for now. —Belwine (talk) 21:51, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Short description

In general English Wikipedia, the Short description of an article can be entered by using template { { Short description | XYZ ABC } } but in simple Wikipedia, how can we do that? I found the very template useless. Besides, the short description given in Sanamahi is totally wrong, who did that? I want to know! Can I manage these things too? Please help me! Haoreima (talk) 05:50, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi. I don't think we have short descriptions here. I think we get them from Wikidata. —Belwine (talk) 08:10, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

By short description, I mean a few lines which are highlighted just below the title of the article. For example, Helen of Troy, has a highlight "Daughter of Zeus". Like that one, in the page Sanamahi too. I want to know how it's added or edited? Haoreima (talk) 10:33, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Haoreima: As Belwine states, we take those from Wikidata. --IWI (talk) 10:50, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
Ok. Go to Wikidata and search for the article you want to add the short description to. Then, add a description to the "Description" part. —Belwine (talk) 10:51, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

User account

Will deleting my user account from general English Wikipedia affect to my account in simple English Wikipedia?

And, Can anyone block a Wikipedia user who is already retired? Haoreima (talk) 05:48, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Haoreima: - No one can delete an account, not even you. See en:Wikipedia:Username_policy#Deleting_and_merging_accounts. You will see some options available to you. The account is a universal account. Once you log into any Wikipedia your account is automatically created. So say you are logged in now to simple and you go to the Spanish Wikipedia your account is automatically created. I highly recommend you do not create multiple accounts. This can lead to very bad things if you get blocked for anything. As far as blocking, only administrators and higher can block an account. Typically retired users are not blocked. See en:Wikipedia:Blocking_policy for the entire policy about blocking. I hope this has helped you. PotsdamLamb (talk) 06:51, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Unfortunately, the subject does not appear to be notable enough for Wikipedia. Sorry. Even these references are only brief mentions and not solely based on him, and the ones based on him appear to be primary sources. Best, —Belwine (talk) 15:49, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

Ok, I just reverted your edits as the article made sense before. Best, —Belwine (talk) 15:02, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
@MrManasharma: This change just makes the article make less sense. We don't have to use "the", "are" and "a" in everything, and definitely not here. —Belwine (talk) 15:13, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: There is no sense of sentence without these words. So why these changes are not matter. I think that with my these types of changes there is no any effect on any article... MrManasharma (talk) 15:20, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

The sentence definitely does make sense without your addition.
"Basic English (Business Academic Scientific International Commercial) is a controlled language used to explain the complex thoughts." We don't need to use "the" here. Not every noun needs to have a "the" or "a" behind it.
"Some articles are in the Simple English Wikipedia use only Basic English." This addition made the sentence make no sense. It is unclear whether it is saying "Some articles are in the Simple English Wikipedia. Use only Basic English." or "Some articles in the Simple English use only Basic English." Best, —Belwine (talk) 15:29, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

okay so why do you request the article to be delete? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sammykingstown (talkcontribs) 22:02, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

I requested the article to be deleted because it does not meet the general notability guideline, and it could have been deleted under quick delete reason A4. However, as the article has been deleted quite a few times already, Eptalon sent the article to requests for deletion, where the article will be discussed about for a week, and the community will choose to either delete, keep, or do something else with the article. —Belwine (talk) 22:04, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

How can I count the number of articles I have created in this Wikipedia? Is there any stats page of Wikipedia users? Haoreima (talk) 12:02, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

See this. It's your contributions, but it only includes new pages that you have created in the main space. Note it also includes redirects. If you just count all of those (apart from the redirects) then you can get the number of articles you have created. This is the way I do it, there may be another way to do it. Hmm, I can't really see what you can see, with the undeemed and deemed sign. I can see that on the English wikipedia, it says that the article can be viewed in Simple English, but on the Simple English Wikipedia it doesn't say about the English Wikipedia. I think it's an issue with Wikidata, let me check a second... —Belwine (talk) 12:46, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Regarding that, I saw the same situation in page Nongthang Leima. Later, when I reinsert the interwiki links, they got linked.

I don't know whether it's peculiar or not. BTW, waiting for your return from wikidata. Haoreima (talk) 12:48, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

The thing I saw with this wikipedia not showing a link on the side to English Wikipedia is probably a bug, the Wikidata item is fine. —Belwine (talk) 12:53, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Then, what shall we do? Haoreima (talk) 13:07, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

I'm not really sure. I think it is fine to leave it be for now. I tried adding links to that article and it said they were already connected ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
so it's probably a bug or something... —Belwine (talk) 13:10, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

You have been helping out with the vandalism on the wiki, but when you revert the vandalism or damage by the user who vandalized, leaving warnings on their talk page will make it worse, according to ImprovedWikiImprovement. The same outcome goes for anonymous Vandals as well, according to WP:DENY. I’m not trying to tell you “don’t leave warnings” or anything like that, I’m just giving you a heads up. Thanks though. IamNotTheGuyWhoSocked (talk) 17:26, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

@IamNotTheGuyWhoSocked: Firstly, WP:DENY is an essay. Secondly, that's not really what WP:DENY is talking about. WP:DENY is for people who have been disrupting the project for months, or years.
Warnings are fine if a user is just adding nonsense into a page, or doing childish vandalism. I only give a certain amount of warnings though, I won't just keep on warning once it's clear the user is just interested in vandalism. —Belwine (talk) 17:29, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Ok sorry about that. IamNotTheGuyWhoSocked (talk) 17:31, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Also, I'm a little confused. You haven't interacted with IWI at all, you joined yesterday. I am wondering how you would know about IWI's advice for not leaving warnings on talk pages for certain users, on your first day? —Belwine (talk) 17:35, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Ironically, the user above has now been blocked for socking... —Belwine (talk) 13:47, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

WikiProject invitation

Hello Belwine, I would like to invite you to WikiProject Vital Articles! There are over 100,000 articles on Simple English Wikipedia, but this project's goal is to work on 100 of the most important articles. We will choose one or two articles to improve at a time. We will try to make the articles more complete or promote them to good article status. Hope to see you there! Naddruf (talk) 18:47, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, I meant to join a couple of days ago when the wikiproject was created, but forgot. I have joined now. Thanks, —Belwine (talk) 19:10, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

New language code template

@Belwine: There are templates { {lang-grc| } } for Ancient Greek or { {lang-mni| } } for Manipuri language. Similarly, I want a template { {lang-omp| } } for Old Manipuri. omp is it's language code. Unfortunately, lang-omp is not supported. How shall I create it? Help me! Haoreima (talk) 04:53, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Like this one Template:Lang-mni, I like for the old Manipuri language. Haoreima (talk) 04:57, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: I am not the best at templates, but this is lang-mni's code

If you copy that onto the page Template:Lang-omp, replacing mni with omp, then it should work. —Belwine (talk) 07:33, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Will copy and paste become vandalizm? Haoreima (talk) 08:46, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

It's never vandalism if you are trying to help. —Belwine (talk) 08:57, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. Haoreima (talk) 09:20, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Kissing girls, and liking it...

Hello Belwine, its nice the original author told us that he (presumably) likes kissing girls, but in the case of the Chilean ridge coming up with a two sentence stub wasn't that difficult...--Eptalon (talk) 13:37, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Ok, apologies. I occasionally rewrite the articles I request for deletion but not too often. I'll try to do it more. Thanks, —Belwine (talk) 13:40, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
No worries, there are several approaches to handling such articles. And remember: there are few reasons to not kiss girls, if you like kissing them... --Eptalon (talk) 13:51, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello, When adding infoboxes please make sure you don't do this - Infobox parameters should always be on new lines if that makes sense (like this)
Doing it your way makes it completely impossible for editors who use WikiText to edit it. Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:11, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

@Davey2010: Yes, this is because of VisualEditor. If you add an infobox in VisualEditor, infoboxes will end up looking like that when you copy them. (At least, those are the results when I tried to copy the infobox from en:Test (2014 film) to my user page here.) I will just do it in source editor in future, as I prefer the new line format too.
Also, for other articles, it is fine if there is an infobox with information that is already in the article. I'm not sure if the same would apply to buses, but that's what applies for cities and people.
Thanks, —Belwine (talk) 14:31, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi Belwine, Ah okay sorry I didn't realise it was a VE issue, Generally speaking most vehicles here don't have them but I'll ask at Simple talk and if editors agree they're fine then I'll add them back :), Many thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:54, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
Ok, thanks :) —Belwine (talk) 14:56, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Social media

Is exposing my social media account link in my user page a vandalism? Can I do that? Haoreima (talk) 14:37, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: You can add a social media account to your user page, as long as it is not a major part of your user page. —Belwine (talk) 14:56, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: I have not inserted any image in the page Nongthang Leima but this one appears. Besides me, none edited the page. Seems like wikipedia gets haunted by something. 😱😱 How can I know who did this? Haoreima (talk) 16:57, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

You added the infobox here Special:Diff/7381865 but there is not an image in the infobox. That's strange.
It might be because the page got linked to Wikidata and the image is on Wikidata, and automatically got connected to the infobox? I'm pretty sure that's why. (Btw, it was connected to Wikidata by me) —Belwine (talk) 17:03, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Then, how shall I remove the image? The image is of a tribal girl (Haoreima) and the very page is of a thunder goddess (Nongthang Leima). It needs to be removed. Haoreima (talk) 17:33, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Oh ok, see wikidata:Q85789406, or I can do it for you —Belwine (talk) 17:35, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

I have a message left for you in the talk page of wiki data Nongthang Leima. Hope I will learn easier there. Haoreima (talk) 02:57, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Replied on the talk page. Not sure if adding interwiki links is possible on mobile. —Belwine (talk) 10:51, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: I have removed the image on the Wikidata item. —Belwine (talk) 19:20, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

Thank you, Belwine. Haoreima (talk) 01:29, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

User:Djsasso is not responding me for many days. He had merged the page List of Puyas into Puya (Meitei texts). I have requested him to un merged it.

What can I do now? Haoreima (talk) 10:51, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

I wouldn't worry too much. Djsasso probably merged it because it would be better to have the list in the article. —Belwine (talk) 10:52, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Ok. Haoreima (talk) 10:55, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Info box color

I want to have a color of infobox deity in all the possible pages related to Meitei mythology. Like Poseidon and Lakshmi have specific colors, how shall I format the color? One example of Meitei mythology deity having infobox is Wangbren. Could you teach me? Haoreima (talk) 10:57, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

I can't seem to find anything that would make the infobox green. It might be the infobox template only having a green colour on some of the articles? I'm not sure.. —Belwine (talk) 11:00, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

It means green is not reserved for Greek gods and yellow is not reserved for Hindus. Right! Haoreima (talk) 11:03, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

I'm not sure, I don't know much about infoboxes. —Belwine (talk) 11:07, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

OK. Haoreima (talk) 11:08, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Please check if there is any error while creating Khuman, Khamba (disambiguation) and Moirang (disambigution). And the last one has a wrong spelling of disambiguation. Please move it. Haoreima (talk) 07:50, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

I moved the page that needed moving. I will check the others soon —Belwine (talk) 07:58, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Oh, and by the way, @Haoreima: you can move a page just by going to Special:MovePage/X, X being the name of the page you want to move. —Belwine (talk) 12:13, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @Haoreima: In disambiguation pages, please use bullets instead of numbers to format the lists. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:08, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, Belwine! Actually, the link which you gave me a long time before, didn't work. Ok, BTW, this one works. Thanks. Haoreima (talk) 12:16, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

In future, if you plan to do over 100 changes in quick succession as you did today, please request the flood flag. It is currently difficult to patrol vandalism in recent changes due to the flood. Thanks, --IWI (talk) 12:24, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

Oh, apologies. I usually keep an eye on recent changes whilst I'm doing the changes, but I'll request the flood flag in future. Thanks, —Belwine (talk) 12:32, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

Hey hey. So Going through cleanup and I have an article that is throwing errors due to double indentation. What is the best way to do this list? I looked at the MOS and it doesn't really help me on this. The article--PotsdamLamb (talk) 15:01, 11 March 2021 (UTC) is List of plants by common name. I am also curious as to why the URL is written using + for spacing and not _. I do not know how to change that.

Apologies for the wait. I have replaced all :* with **, which might solve the issue. I'm not sure what issue there is with a URL, though. Thanks, —Belwine (talk) 16:06, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
Which URL? PotsdamLamb (talk) 04:48, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
"I am also curious as to why the URL is written using + for spacing and not _" Is this the actual page List of plants by common name? It's coming up as _ for me —Belwine (talk) 07:01, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, it is now for me as well and I also have some things back on my end I didn't have. They must have been doing something on the backend. PotsdamLamb (talk) 15:33, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

Your non-admin observation comments at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Rollback were not needed. Requests for rollback are not a community vote. The admins who respond to these requests know what to check for, including the kinds of things you mentioned. When non-admins comment on these requests, it 1) can make it harder to process the request because of the additional verbiage to the page, 2) can promote hard feelings between users and 3) can make the user feel "ganged-up on" when the responding admin needs to repeat what a non-admin said. My corrections to the bourbon whiskey information were written in plain and simple English. Why on earth would you delete my changes? — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talkcontribs) 18:16, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

They did not seem simple to me. You might want to see BE 1500.
Also, it is better for us to use shorter sentences here. In my opinion, we should be making sentences as easy to read as possible here. —Belwine (talk) 18:20, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

No Promotion but???

@Belwine: Do you think writing about persons and books, too much in wikipedia, is a form of promotion? Is it a vandalism? Actually, I have no notion of promotion of products. And I always tried to prevent promotional tone while writing about them. For references, I mean The Tales of Kanglei Throne, New Folktales of Manipur, regarding books. And James Oinam, regarding person. Haoreima (talk) 05:14, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

I am asking you this because one of my friends, was blocked in en wikipedia, for creating articles about many business companies, too much. Haoreima (talk) 05:15, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

The articles will probably be kept if the article is NPOV and the subject of the article meets the general notability guideline. They don't appear to be obvious advertising, so they can't be deleted under G11. —Belwine (talk) 06:57, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

But, is there any rule against creation of business companies related articles, for which my friend was blocked,en:User:Awangba Mangang in en wikipedia? Haoreima (talk) 10:08, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Yes, businesses (or anything) you're making an article on must meet the general notability guideline. There need to be sources available that show notability, and these sources must be reliable and talk about them in some detail. —Belwine (talk) 16:20, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) The other issue here is tone. The article should be written in an encyclopedic tone, not a promotional tone. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:52, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Yet another issue is Conflict of Interest, if the page is written by a person close to the topic. These pages aren't providing reliable, verifiable objective sources. Please consider:
I've noticed the Meitei/Manipur content here on the Simple English WP as I'm interested in folklore. Especially with the dual name, I started looked into forming properly nested categories here to improve access to these pages, and also to link them to existing Wikidata items which will form interwiki links (i.e., to other WP language projects). The matter is complex and is worth further effort. I welcome other editors' input. Deborahjay (talk) 21:07, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

@Deborahjay: No, I don't have any relationship with James Oinam. In fact, the only relationship is that he and I belong to Oinam family. That's all. The family name coincides and nothing else. If there is any further problems with my articles, please inform me so that I could develop them in better way. Haoreima (talk) 02:56, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

@Auntof6: But I think I have not written anything in promotional tone till now. If you find anything such, please make sure to either inform me please or edit it please. Haoreima (talk) 02:58, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

@Deborahjay: You say something about mentioning in the article's talk page. Actually, I want to put some information on Meitei Wikipedia page, as

"User:Haoreima contributes 70℅ of all the articles in Meitei Wikipedia. And User:Awangba Mangang was the pioneer of the Wikipedia. They are the only two persons, who are active in the Wikipedia."

What do you think, that it could be written by me, or should need someone to write it as the information relates me? Haoreima (talk) 16:37, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Template User babel "omp" is for Old Manipuri and unlike other user babel lang templates, it is written in English. You may witness this in my user page also. Where shall we edit it to make it appear in omp's own language? Sock master's story

@Belwine: I agree that I am a sock master in general English Wikipedia. My foremost account was en:User:Goutamkumar Oinam, my most precious account. I forgot its password. So, I created "Goutamkumar Oinam 2". There, I got blocked from Admin " Kuru". During that time, I had no idea about what is sock puppet or meat puppet or multiple accounts vandalism. So, I created multiple accounts. And all of them got blocked after a few edits each. This time, I lost Haoreima in en Wikipedia, blocked by Djsasso.

Now, my last asylum is only simple English Wikipedia.

But I want to have unblock request for "Goutamkumar Oinam 2" (because I forgot the foremost account's password). I want to seek apologies. Will it be affective or useful? @Djsasso: you may also reply me here. Haoreima (talk) 14:44, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: Hello. Apologies for my late response, I have been rather busy today.
Regarding your block on enwiki, I would recommend waiting at least a few months before making an unblock request. Do not make any more accounts.
Then in a few months, request an unblock using {{unblock}}. Read w:WP:GAB (Guide to Appealing Blocks).

Blog sourcing

@Belwine: I have been told by Djsasso not to add any blog website in the reference if the articles. Do you think these pages, Emblem of Manipur, Coat of arms of Manipur, Flag of Manipur and Flag of Kangleipak have any such bad sourcing? If yes, as a part of vandalism, please remove them.

But still, I don't know what is the difference between blog website and others. I have already read the page reliable source in Wikipedia. Haoreima (talk) 03:21, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

Good morning,
The articles seem quite good, although remember that related websites are not references. Just a few tips:
  1. Instead of using a link for Commons, use {{Commons}} for Commons categories.
  2. When talking about external links, we use the term "Other websites" here.
  3. "See also" is used on the English Wikipedia, whilst "Related pages" is used here.
  4. External links don't really count as references.
  5. In an article, when you are talking about the flag or something, or coat of arms, or most things, I don't think it is necessary to have "s on the name, you can just leave it without them.
So instead of writing: The "Emblem of Manipur" is the State Emblem of Manipur.
Write: The Emblem of Manipur is the State Emblem of Manipur.

With the reliable source thing, just think whether the article is made by a news company with journalists or someone just typing up a page at home. From what I can see, is more of a news company than a blog and so I think this is appropriate to use in articles. —Belwine (talk) 06:12, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

Revert method

@Belwine: How should I revert another person's edit, even though I am not a rollbacker? Some editors did it, when they are not even rollbackers. I received notifications about my edit getting reverted in the page Genus. Haoreima (talk) 03:15, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Simply use the undo button in the page history. Just so you know, rollback is for reverting obvious vandalism and not for reverting everything. Also, I would recommend discussing with Naddruf per w:WP:BRD. --Belwine (talk) 05:27, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. Haoreima (talk) 11:13, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Oh, and also, for anti-vandalism (reverting edits that are made in bad-faith), you can use Twinkle. --Belwine (talk) 15:39, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: Thanks! I will read the guidelines. And another help, in the English page en:Pakhangba, a user "Palin Thangjam" performed an unhelpful edit, please revert it. It converts the blue links into red links by changing the names inside the square brackets. Haoreima (talk) 05:23, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

There is nothing wrong with simply changing the links to red links, as long as the information correct. Is the information correct? --Belwine (talk) 05:49, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

The user converts the link Leimarel Sidabi into Ema Leimarel Sidabi. The word "Ema" means mother. Same case happens to another link. Haoreima (talk) 13:59, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

It's like converting link Athena into Goddess Athena. Haoreima (talk) 14:00, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

No futility, I think so! Haoreima (talk) 14:00, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: If you think I am right, then please help me! Haoreima (talk) 01:35, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

Ok, I'm going to check again. Another editor has made a change since then, is that change ok too? I have reverted back to the change you wanted, since some content was also removed too with no explanation. --Belwine (talk) 08:28, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: After User Palin Thangjam's edit, it's done by User Ajay Das (written in Bengali name), I think there's no problem now. BTW, thanks for help! And please make sure that if that user continues such unhelpful edits, then notify him of his vandalism. Haoreima (talk) 08:59, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

I want your help in en Wikipedia until I have an account free from blocked. For that,I have to wait for some months,as per your suggestions. Haoreima (talk) 09:01, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

Ok, I can't really do edits for you on enwiki, unless it's reverting vandalism. --Belwine (talk) 10:42, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: Sure, I have been and will request you only in case of vandalism or unhelpful edits. Haoreima (talk) 16:49, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

Personally, I would not have moved the page to a nickname, if only because nicknames in Spanish tend to be almost universal. That means it becomes ambiguous in time. Second, a person well-known now may become much less well-known in time. Fame is fleeting. Such are the repetitions in Spanish nicknames that Alvarito is bound to be used for many others. Likewise "Paco", the traditional term for "Francisco". Would you have a page title "Chalky" for someone whose surname is Miller? Macdonald-ross (talk) 07:21, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

From what I could tell, that was the name that was usually used, and the enwiki move seemed to be uncontroversial. I will check some more... -- Belwine (talk) 12:11, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
I've done another search. From what I can tell, the full name is used just as much as Alvarito, if not a little more, so WP:COMMONNAME doesn't apply.
I've messaged the person who moved the page on enwiki to find sources that show Alvarito is the common name. --Belwine (talk) 15:44, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
I left a message on the mover's page. It seems to be a WP:COMMONNAME. --Ferien (talk) 19:39, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Greetings, please can you explain to me how to create an article on wikipedia in general English, I don't know if there is a manual to create an article, since every time I try it sends me to a creation wizard that is very different from wikipedia in Spanish which only allows me to create a draft but then it is deleted. You need help creating a wikipedia article in general English. I am a user of wikipedia in Spanish and I have never had experience in wikipedia in English. LeoPla99 (talk) 14:43, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

The manual of style can help you with what to do when making your article. To make an article, just go to the page you want to create (, --- being the page you want to create). If you need any more help, let me know. --Belwine (talk) 15:27, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
@LeoPla99: It sounds like you might want to create an article on English Wikipedia, not Simple English Wikipedia. You now have a draft: en:Draft:Playones. It has not been deleted, but you did not submit it yet. Before you submit it, you will need to add references. The visual editor is a good way to add references. Once you are ready to submit the article to be approved, add {{subst:submit}}. Then somebody will review it. Lights and freedom (talk) 20:25, 3 April 2021 (UTC)

Meitei mythology vs religion

Dear Belwine, I appreciate your activity on the Meitei topics, especially the efforts at categorizing them. I wrote up further thoughts about yesterday's progress. As I believe that mythology is a subtopic of religion, I don't want to make any changes without discussion. Please see User talk:Haoreima#Mythology vs religion and respond there so we can have a dialogue with User:Haoreima. Cheers! -- Deborahjay (talk) 06:08, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Done User talk:Haoreima is on my watchlist so I am aware of changes that happen there. Will sort out the categories later... --Belwine (talk) 11:28, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Picture quality from desktop screen

@Belwine: I have recently uploaded the pictures of 7 dragons. Since I am a mobile user, I don't know whether these pictures look at good resolution in the desktop screens or not! In your screen, is any of the following look like in less resolution? If any, please tell me, I will create a better one! Haoreima (talk) 09:11, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Collapsing images to make it easier to browse through talk page --Belwine (talk) 16:13, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
They all seem pretty good for resolution on desktop. --Belwine (talk) 09:36, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

OK. Haoreima (talk) 14:34, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: What is collapsing? Haoreima (talk) 16:16, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Basically, you can just collapse content to make it easier to scroll past. Those images were taking up a lot of space, so I just collapsed them. If you expand the green box, you can still see the images. --Belwine (talk) 16:18, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Ok. Haoreima (talk) 16:20, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons knowledge

Do you have any idea about Wikimedia Commons? Can a picture of my own work which has no EXIF data be uploaded? Will it be nominated for deletion? Haoreima (talk) 16:01, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

I am not really an active Wikimedia Commons user, apologies. You could ask on the c:Commons:Help desk, they might be able to help. --Belwine (talk) 16:06, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Sure. Haoreima (talk) 16:11, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: I think images can be uploaded without EXIF data. Obviously I may be wrong here, so keep on checking here for an actual response to your question... --Belwine (talk) 19:26, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
Someoen has replied to your question on Commons now. --Belwine (talk) 20:31, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

I saw you told someone there who was asking for sock puppet investigation of my account to the admins. Actually, my, this very current account, is the first to use Wikimedia Commons! Thanks, you remind him about me. -- Haoreima (talk) 03:20, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

No problem. I found it quite rude that you were being accused of socking the moment you started editing there properly, it's quite bitey behaviour IMO. --Belwine (talk) 09:56, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
You are right. Haoreima (talk) 15:16, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: As you said about WP:BITE, I think a person says that the files uploaded in Wikimedia can either be deleted or undeleted, this depends on the trusts of the editors and admins. This seems like in middle ages, the lives of the commoners depend on the whims and fancies of the warlords. Please see

What can I do? Can you suggest me? Haoreima (talk) 04:49, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

The files you uploaded are made by you, correct?
The general rule is files uploaded by you can be kept and files not get deleted. If the files have other issues then they can still be deleted. You may want to read c:Commons:Deletion policy. --Belwine (talk) 10:43, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Can I perform contributions to Wikitionary? What guidelines can I get? What is it's purpose? Haoreima (talk) 16:23, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

There also seems to be a Meitei Wiktionary here, if you are interested in that. --Belwine (talk) 16:33, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

@Moem3jasa: Hello, welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia.
The welcome message that Tsugaru left on your talk page should be helpful to you.
I find the best way to get started is to fix typos and basic errors in articles. Then, do more advanced work from there. It is best not to make an article as soon as you get here.
If you need any more help, please let me know. --Belwine (talk) 10:39, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

User account issue

Is there any way if a user forgets his password and he hadn't put email address during registration? Is the user account need to be compromised? Or, is there any way? `Haoreima (talk) 16:53, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

You can add an email in your preferences here if you forgot during registration. You cannot reset your password if you haven't got an email connected! --Belwine (talk) 16:57, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
Oh thanks! Haoreima (talk) 17:03, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: If the user account is log out in the above situation, then will the account need to be compromised? Haoreima (talk) 13:47, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: I'm a little confused about what you are trying to say.
If you reset your password or email, you might have to log back in with your password (if resetting your password, then the previous password, not your new one), so I'd recommend writing your password down somewhere or using something like w:LastPass. --Belwine (talk) 13:50, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
Indeed. I found this the hard way a few years ago when I forgot the password to my old account and no email was registered, so I was locked out and had to start this one. --IWI (talk) 13:54, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine, ImprovedWikiImprovement: you are right, IWI. Actually, I was talking about en:User:Goutamkumar Oinam, which has same case as thine, so I created en:User:Goutamkumar Oinam 2, which is like thy current account. I want to have an unblock request for "Goutamkumar Oinam 2". I don't think it's a sock puppet account since it's created only after the loss of access to the foremost account. What suggestions you guys have for me? Haoreima (talk) 15:41, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

As you still created this account, the admins/checkusers on enwiki may still not want to unblock you. In my opinion, it is probably best for you to use this account and no other accounts for 6 months from when you were blocked on this account (see the standard offer page) then request an unblock. Lots of enwiki admins actually ask people to come here to show that they have worked well whilst blocked on enwiki, so you could also point to your work here in your unblock. --Belwine (talk) 15:54, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: Do you mean after six months, the unblock request should be done only from User:Haoreima and not any other account? Haoreima (talk) 16:11, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: As you're using this account on mniwiki and here, I'd recommend just using Haoreima. It can be done on Goutamkumar Oinam 2, but you do not use that account here or on mniwiki so it would make sense to just use Haoreima for all Wikimedia projects. --Belwine (talk) 16:15, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: Sure, Belwine! I like your suggestion. I will try my best to show all my edits in both mni as well as simple wikis in a better constructive way, so that I may get positive response from the admins in en wiki in future. Thank you for the advice! Haoreima (talk) 16:18, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: Just a note though. Waiting 6 months and editing constructively will not necessarily mean you will be unblocked on enwiki, although it increases your chances of being unblocked. I recommend reading through the standard offer page if you have not already. --Belwine (talk) 16:20, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
@Belwine:Reading but at the same time, I have a doubt whether a confirmed blocked sock puppet account will be unblocked or not. Haoreima (talk) 16:23, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Also, as you have more than 2-3 sockpuppets on enwiki according to the category, I think you will have to be unbanned through community discussion, per w:WP:3X. --Belwine (talk) 16:26, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: Unbanned? Am I banned? I think my former accounts are only blocked but I have no idea about them being banned! Haoreima (talk) 16:28, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

See w:WP:3X. Editors who are confirmed by a CheckUser to have engaged in sockpuppetry on at least two occasions after an initial indefinite block that is active, for any reason, are effectively site banned by the Wikipedia community. If all the confirmed sockpuppets are yours, then the three strike rule applies: You are effectively site banned by the English Wikipedia community. --Belwine (talk) 16:33, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Oh then I will digest all the guideline pages you offer. Thanks. Haoreima (talk) 16:37, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Belwine, I was wondering if you could put a semi-protected plate on Verdis due to recent vandalisms? I am unsure of how to do it as I am still quite new to Simple English Wikipedia. Much appreciated!Template:Talback Acc013 (talk) 09:45, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@Acc013: Hi! I have left a note on your talk page already. If many IPs are vandalising the page then you can request semi-protection on the administrators' noticeboard. Only administrators can protect pages. Even if I did put a semi-protection template on there, it would not show up, as the page is not protected, and IPs could still edit the page. I will keep an eye on the page, though, and will request semi-protection if necessary. --Belwine (talk) 09:49, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

The new RFA

You may not have seen the messages in the past about this, but we ask that people don't add RFAs to the RFP page unless they are the nominator or nominee. Not only is it possible that the RFA page was created as a test, but part of what we want to see is that the person can figure out to add it themselves. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 10:20, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Oh, sorry about that. --Belwine (talk) 10:30, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
Yep they shouldn't be voted on until they are placed there by the nominee as they are not considered live until that point and could just be a draft page that they may intend to expand etc. -Djsasso (talk) 11:43, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

The IP is back at it again. Darubrub (talk) 13:07, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

I'll probably be done soon and I am also keeping an eye on recent changes. With those ones where I was removing Category:Settlements in Kerala, that was actually something I was doing with the flood flag a few hours ago, but not all of them went through. --Belwine (talk) 19:10, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

@Joemama1400: Hello. I will continue to remove your "helpful" and "informatory additions" that are actually very offensive to people. You likely do not care about a block, but, just so you know, there are admins on the English Wikipedia who would quickly block you without any warning after adding content like that. Parratt - British or any??

@Belwine: I want to create an article about an author but... I saw a page en:John Parratt which is about a cricketer. But there's another person John Parratt, who's a famous author. I don't know whether these two persons are same or not. For the author, please see

Is Parratt an English surname or British? Could you please clarify me the difference between British people and English people? Haoreima (talk) 16:58, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Let me quickly explain.. England, Wales and Scotland are all on the island of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is on the island of Ireland. England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are all in the United Kingdom (of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). So an English person is technically a British person, but not the other way round.
These two people (John Parratt and John Parratt) are probably not the same person from what I have seen. I don't think a cricketer would be writing about theology. According to this, Parratt came from France to England, so I am assuming it is an English name. --Belwine (talk) 17:05, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: Thanks bro! You helped me a lot! Haoreima (talk) 17:08, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: So, shall I create the article like this: John Parratt (writer) and John Parratt (cricketer)? Haoreima (talk) 17:53, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

If so, then we need a move in en wiki for the existing article. Haoreima (talk) 17:54, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Yeah, if you're creating both then you're going to need to disambiguate. However, there's not an article on the writer on enwiki right now, so there isn't a need to disambiguate there yet. --Belwine (talk) 18:10, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Ok Haoreima (talk) 03:31, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Belwine is correct in principle, but it's helpful when we use the same title as enwiki, even if we have only one of the articles here. That's because people might bring over articles that link to one or the other, and those articles could link to the wrong page if the titles don't match.
By the way, please pay attention to indenting your replies. You haven't indented properly with any of your replies in this section. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:09, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
@Auntof6: Since this is an edit in talk page of a user, what is the significance of intending reply? I usually create ping template as well as use 4 twigs during reply. Isn't that enough? BTW, these are through automatic visual editing. I think so.

And lastly, please use ping if you are replying to me in other's talk page. It will ease me to get noticed. Else, I might not known since I don't recheck other's talk page everytime. Haoreima (talk) 12:30, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: Ok. Indenting replies makes following the conversation a lot easier. Basically, just add on a : for each reply. So when I send you a new message, you should reply with : behind it. Then when I reply to that, I should add :: behind it. Then when you reply to that, you should add ::: to your reply, etc.
By the way, when you are on my talk page, you do not need to ping me as I get notifications whenever anyone messages me on my talk page. You can ping other editors, but when you are on someone else's talk page, you do not need to ping the talk page owner. The amount of notifications I get is the same.--Belwine (talk) 12:45, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
Sure. Haoreima (talk) 12:47, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Removal of QD warning

Hi! Just wondering why you removed that QD warning from that IP? Best, Milo, Talk, Contribs 19:36, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

That editor is banned by the WMF, it is best not to warn globally banned users. I'd recommend turning off automatic warnings QD notices for G3 in Twinkle settings. Best, --Belwine (talk) 19:37, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
Just a side-note that it wasn't a warning but a notification of the deletion. If you read it, it doesn't actually "warn" at all. --IWI (talk) 19:40, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
Oh I've never come across that policy before - is there a Wikipedia page laying it out that you could link, as I've been away from Wikipedia for a while so things might have changed a little! Also sorry for the wrong phrasing - I am aware it's just a notification, so will also worn with uw-create1 when necessary. Thank you, — Preceding unsigned comment added by SpaceGuy32 (talkcontribs) 19:42, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
There is the m:WMF Global Ban policy. Editors can revert all WMF-banned editors' edits. No explanation is needed. I have sent an email with the LTA page in it. --Belwine (talk) 19:46, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Help me

@Belwine: I need your help now. Suggest me what shall be done at the best to save the articles whose deletion nomination message has been received at my talk page recently. Haoreima (talk) 06:46, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: you might be able to move them into a user sandbox. However, it is important that the subject of your article claims notability. For example, if I publish a book, it doesn't necessarily mean that an article should be published on it. Also, ensure that the subject of your article passes the general notability guideline. --Belwine (talk) 10:14, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
I also see Auntof6 has left some helpful suggestions for you on their talk page. --Belwine (talk) 10:17, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
@Belwine: Thanks for reverting the edit. I saw a stranger doing something without my permission to my talk page. Same as yours recently. How can I revert a person's multiple edits? As you suggest me before, I know a single edit revert by doing undo! What about multiple edits? Haoreima (talk) 12:44, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: You will have to undo multiple times, or use Twinkle. If you are a rollbacker, you can undo all of one person's changes very quickly using rollback. --Belwine (talk) 12:46, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
Something nonsense edits are doing by some uncivilized people in the name of anonymous. I am experiencing nowadays. What shall we do ? I saw you reverted their edits too. Thanks for that! Haoreima (talk) 12:52, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Just undo all vandalistic edits and warn using Twinkle. Then report to WP:VIP once they continue after a level 4 warning. If someone has edited after the bad edits happened, and didn't notice, then just remove the bad edits manually.
Once you have given all of these out...

report to WP:VIP. Then an administrator will deal with them... --Belwine (talk) 12:55, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
Oh then without you anti-vandalism guys, Wikipedia will almost be a place for those pirates. Mon dieu! Haoreima (talk) 12:59, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Indeed. As Juliancolton (a former administrator here) once said here, if nobody ever wrote another article, Wikipedia would remain a useful and comprehensive resource for years, even decades, to come. Without vandal-fighters, Wikipedia would be useless in a matter of days. It is quite important that vandalism is reverted as quickly as possible... --Belwine (talk) 13:04, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
If I am not wrong, is it true that in English language Wikipedia, vandalism fighters are mainly British users? Because British pay emphasis on their mother tongue English. And non-English speaking people seldom take care of English wiki. Instead, they do the same to their mother tongue wikis. Am I right? Haoreima (talk) 13:07, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Yes, mainly, but not always. Whilst it is mostly English-speaking users who fight vandalism on the English Wikipedia, there are lots of editors and admins who are not native English speakers. And here on the Simple English Wikipedia, there are a few admins and editors who are not native English speakers who contribute massively to the project.
Obviously though, it is much easier to contribute to your mother tongue wiki, because you know, it's easier to speak.. English is a complicated language, especially if it is not your native language.
I tried contributing on dewiki the other day, but it is, obviously, much harder to contribute as it is not my native language. So yes, I think you're right mainly, people prefer contributing to the wiki of their own language. --Belwine (talk) 13:15, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for pinging. But especially and particularly for you, Belwine, I always eagerly wait for your response in anyone's talk page. BTW, sometimes I found the notification of someone mentioning me comes to me almost an hour later or in some rare case, a day later. It really angers me. Do you have any experience like this? Haoreima (talk) 13:27, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
On mobile, people are facing issues where they cannot see notifications at all. This may be related. See the discussion here. However, on mobile, I always get notifications, hence why I was able to deal with the vandalism we talked about above so quickly. --Belwine (talk) 13:29, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
I can perform both mobile view editing as well as desktop view editing in my same gadget. BTW, in my mobile, I saw a bell🔔 icon at the top right screen. This bell icon becomes a reddish circle whenever a notification came. Usually, I received the notices a few seconds later after the editor's edit. But, sometimes, bugs also happened. The notification of some users in the section "MNI" in my talk page, involving Djsasso, Tsugaru and you, came to my notice 10 hours later. It's very disappointing for me. Haoreima (talk) 13:34, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Hmm, that's strange. I receive all cross-wiki notifications almost instantly. Sometimes I am contributing on a completely different wiki and in the middle of something I sometimes get a notification for a message or mention on another wiki. --Belwine (talk) 13:37, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
I live in the outskirts of Imphal. So, since my place is a sub urban area, might it be the reason also? Haoreima (talk) 13:41, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Probably not. I am in a rural area of the West Midlands region and do not face these issues, although our internet speeds may be different. The notifications should load when you load a wiki page you are editing or reading, if I'm not mistaken. --Belwine (talk) 13:46, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

@Belwine: In other sense, you seem to be my lucky charm! Did you know why? Every evening internet speed surged down in my area. But as soon as you reply to my query in your talk page, internet speed for my server boosted. What a coincidence! Love you ❤😘. Haoreima (talk) 11:54, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: are you still facing the issues with notifications with higher internet speeds? --Belwine (talk) 11:57, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes! Oh the delayed notifications for wiki seldom occur. Usually, I received the notifications a few seconds later after the person's edit.

But irrelevant to Wikipedia, I have problem with my server. That's the case for which I call you my lucky charm of a sudden coincidence for internet speed boosting up. Haoreima (talk) 12:02, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Ah ok, good that the issue is now fixed. Maybe it is related to internet speed. --Belwine (talk) 12:03, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia translation of the week: 2021-15

From incubator to simple- Translation message delivery

Hello Pal! Please could you remove and reinsert my username from Wikimedia Incubator mni to simple English Wikipedia talk page in the meta wiki for subscription/un subscription section page of the weekly translation program. Actually, I have tried to do so. But my attempt failed, I don't know what happened! Please do it for me. Haoreima (talk) 02:46, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: It is currently on Do you still want me to change it to --Belwine (talk) 09:19, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
It is actually currently trying to deliver to mni:User:Haoreima, your user page, hence why it probably is not working. --Belwine (talk) 09:22, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Oh once I requested someone almost many days back to do the favour for me. But I don't know any sign of response. It's only today when I saw the translation message delivered to your talk page, I remember that. So, made a mind to request you. Well, if it's changed to from incubator to mni target, it's ok. But can we have two target sites for a single user? Is it against the rules? Haoreima (talk) 10:15, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: No, it is not against the rules to have two target sites. Shall I fix your mni one, and add your simple talk page? --Belwine (talk) 10:52, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes, bro! That's exactly what I like! Haoreima (talk) 11:52, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
Done. Every week you should receive the mass message on your talk page on mni and simple wikis. :) --Belwine (talk) 11:56, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. Haoreima (talk) 11:59, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Your message to user

Blanking of user talk pages is allowed only for registered users, not for IP talk pages. --Auntof6 (talk) 13:24, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

@Auntof6: w:WP:OWNTALK says that both registered and unregistered users can remove content from talk pages. As there is no WP:OWNTALK page here, I am assuming that we follow the English Wikipedia with this? --Belwine (talk) 13:49, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
We haven't allowed it here because an IP talk page doesn't belong to an individual user. Therefore, the message being removed could have been intended for a different person. Maybe this is worth discussing and clarifying how we should handle it here. --Auntof6 (talk) 14:07, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I have seen discussions in the past about it, in archives. I have seen some where people think it is best for IP talks not to be blanked, and I think I may have seen some people saying it is ok for IP talks to be blanked - although I am struggling to find the latter again! --Belwine (talk) 14:49, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Image fixation

Please help me fixing the image in Ningthouja dynasty. Haoreima (talk) 15:04, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Done Thanks to SpaceGuy32 for moving the image to the right. --Belwine (talk) 15:06, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
OK. Could you join the discussion in my talk page with him. Haoreima (talk) 15:07, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
Done already. --Belwine (talk) 15:09, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Oh Belwine! Actually I and the mni admin told another user not to put English words to mni wiki. At this, there was a strong conflict. So, to gain assurance, I willingly and intentionally asked you (a British user) so that the user mni:User:Luwanglinux may reconcile at me and the admin. Btw, your first talk really impressed me but the 2nd one, 🤣🤣🤣 he will really take advantage of that (your 2nd reply). LOL😂😂😂. Haoreima (talk) 16:55, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Well, as I said, it depends on your opinion of course. Obviously, mniwiki is not an English Wikipedia. But in the Wikipedia: namespace, you don't have to be as strict about it, I suppose. I will leave the decision about English up to you three. --Belwine (talk) 17:02, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Page In Image

  • How do I make an image the background of my talkpage? [See here for what I mean) Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:57, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
@つがる: From what I can tell, you just need to add <div style="width: 810px; margin: 2em auto; background: white; border: 10px solid gray;"
    >[[File:Paint background.jpg|810px]]
    <div style="position: relative; top: -1625px; margin-bottom: -1625px;"></div>
to the top of your talk page. File:Paint background.jpg can be changed to another file and I think the sizes can be changed too. --Belwine (talk) 08:35, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
So I get these results here, but how do I make it scrollable? --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 23:51, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
I think you will need to add <div style="position:relative; padding: 1em 1em 1em 2em; min-height:500px;"> but I have not gone onto desktop to test it out yet. --Ferien (talk) 08:19, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
Ok, it worked well with the paint background (see here) but it did not work at all with the background on your sandbox here. I will have more of a look when I have more time. --Ferien (talk) 10:01, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
@つがる: So I think you will probably need a more portrait background. Also, the image would not last the whole talk page, it would go down a few topics and then it would stop. --Ferien (talk) 17:41, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi, can I please ask for an informal peer review of work done thus far on Rojava and Eastern Kurdistan? GPinkerton (talk) 14:48, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

@GPinkerton: Hi. I think that Eastern Kurdistan is good, there could be a little simplification done e.g. part of Iran inhabited by Kurds -> part of Iran where Kurds live. I think Rojava is good too. Although it looks a little overwhelming at first with all the text, the bits I have read are simple in my opinion. Thanks for linking to the more complicated words and/or explaining them.
By the way, you can't really copy from the English Wikipedia for text (especially for these sorts of things, they are very complicated in language) but you can always copy infoboxes across. You can also copy tables across, as long as you can ensure they are simple. You might want to do that for some of the articles you made. --Belwine (talk) 14:57, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
Great, thanks for looking at them! On the subject of linking unfamiliar words: are users expected to have "learnt" words once they've been linked once already, or must they be linked every time? Both articles can be extended more, but I wanted to be sure things are on the right track for now. Is there anything major at present that would stand in the way of a good article nomination? (Obviously leaving aside that some sections of politics and recent history (esp. E. Kurdistan) are missing thus far, and the geographical information could be fleshed out.) On infoboxes: did you have specific articles in mind? GPinkerton (talk) 15:29, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
About users learning words, I'm not sure, although I'm assuming yes, I don't think they should be linked every time. These are the GA requriements. I suppose after you've extended a bit more, it could meet them but I am not active at WP:PGA, so you may want to ask another editor about that. About the infoboxes, I just looked at the English Wikipedia version of Rojava to compare, you could add the infobox for that if you wanted, but it is more just in general, not specific articles. --Belwine (talk) 15:35, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @GPinkerton: Here's a link where we discussed what to link. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:35, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

How do I propose a revdel?

As header says. Darubrub (talk) 15:39, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

You should email an administrator. However, I have already requested for the page to be deleted and/or a revdel via email. --Belwine (talk) 15:40, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Kate Higgins

I have proof and sources that say years active in 1988 to the present as a voice actress and 1992 as a musician.

That's the last and final time I can prove to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexkrzywicki1 (talkcontribs) 18:27, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Those are not reliable sources, so they don't prove anything to me. You have spent months trying to prove Higgins' activity (it all started in December 2020 when you emailed me) to the point where you have literally been changing Fandom and finding the above most random pages on the Internet. First it was "I swear I saw it on the internet", now it is giving me random websites that basically say just as much to me - they don't prove that it's true. Can you find any actual, reliable sources? I'm talking BBC, New York Times, even Daily Mail if you really want, something that remotely proves that she was active from 1988, it is more reliable than the above. --Belwine (talk) 18:44, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

It got changed for some reason and now every time I try to look up an actor or movie, it just says nothing but, "ipfs resolve -r, no link named 'whatever actor and movie.html,' and under bafybeihn2f7lhumh4grizksi2fl233cyszqadkn424ptjajfenykpsaiw4." I don't even have a clue what that even means or is, but I hope the people on the internet weren't responsible for it. I know a few examples.

Check at how much this true wiki with true sources have become one day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexkyzywicki1 (talkcontribs) 18:56, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

That is just a mirror site of enwiki.--Belwine (talk) 20:22, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Username change

At around midnight UTC on 14 April 2021, I changed my username from Belwine to Ferien, hence why you will not see the "Belwine" username anymore. :) --Ferien (talk) 18:06, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

New username

Hello Ferein! It took me some minutes to get notice that you change your username. In fact, I do also have the same desire. Can my current username be changed into "ꯒꯧꯇꯝꯀꯨꯃꯥꯔ ꯑꯣꯏꯅꯥꯝ", totally free from Latin Roman script? Haoreima (talk) 13:19, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: Hello. Yes, I changed my username from Belwine to Ferien. I actually made the request a month ago, but as someone already registered under that username, I had to wait a month before usurping it. To change your username, make a request at m:SRUC. I don't think anyone is registered under the username ꯒꯧꯇꯝꯀꯨꯃꯥꯔ ꯑꯣꯏꯅꯥꯝ so you can make a request under the normal requests section. --Ferien (talk) 13:36, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
@Belwine: Finally, done. But it's pending. How long will it take to get completed? Haoreima (talk) 13:48, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
I'm not sure. Simple username change requests do not take very long, I think a few days? But usurp requests, like mine, take a month, as they need to notify the user whose username you are usurping. --Ferien (talk) 14:19, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
During submission of form for changing username, email was asked. I added one. But personally, my user account has no attachment to any email. Will there be any problem? Haoreima (talk) 08:34, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: If you add an email, it can be used so that if you forget your password, you can reset it. No-one can email you at the moment via the Special:EmailUser feature, so you are only going to get notifications about what you're doing on Wikipedia. --Ferien (talk) 10:47, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
Oh Thanks. Haoreima (talk) 12:05, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Also, I noticed that I could actually see the letters ꯒꯧꯇꯝꯀꯨꯃꯥꯔ ꯑꯣꯏꯅꯥꯝ on my phone, which was quite interesting. I cannot see them on desktop devices. I am not sure if you will be able to rename to that, with the letters being quite hard to see on most devices. Also, your block on enwiki might affect your ability to rename.--Ferien (talk) 14:35, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
Do you have any idea what does he mean by this: ? Is this a mockery? Haoreima (talk) 15:00, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: No, they are also blocked on enwiki for sockpuppetry. --Ferien (talk) 16:03, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
It's not a mockery. I just didn't acknowledge that I am going to get declined until I get can unblocked on en-wiki, in which I am banned from appealing until August (UTRS) or September (ArbCom). Darubrub (Let me know) 16:16, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, @Haoreima: quite a lot of other users come here who are blocked on enwiki. --Ferien (talk) 17:33, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Belwine! I saw many anonymous people performing vandalism by creating unfair named articles. But in en wiki, I had experienced that unregistered users can't create any page. But is this contrasting here? Haoreima (talk) 16:07, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: Do you mean this, this and this? Requesting all of them for QD would fill up recent changes, so I have just reported to WP:VIP, and an admin will delete them all. And yes, unregistered users can create articles here. --Ferien (talk) 16:10, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

OMG, then can I also create article by logging out? Is it a vandalism? Haoreima (talk) 16:13, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

You shouldn't really be editing logged out if you have an account, this could count as abusing multiple accounts. But, yes, I suppose technically you could.
These bad articles have now all been deleted by IWI, by the way :D --Ferien (talk) 16:14, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Reverting my edit on Danganronpa(franchise)

Do we really need all these specific articles about the games?

I didn't revert it back because I didn't want to start an edit war.

What is your say on this? SoyokoAnis - talk 19:40, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

@SoyokoAnis: It is just that the article before was specifically about that game. Enwiki also has them so I do not see why we don't need to have them.
Changing it into a full franchise article is like turning an article a little bit like turning an article about a country into an article about the whole continent, in my opinion. We can make another article for the franchise, but I noticed how that article was talking about that game in particular, so I reverted back to the version that just said about that one game.
I hope that makes sense. Best regards, --Ferien (talk) 19:43, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
Ah okay, I used the redirect page as a new page for the franchise since it's the name. SoyokoAnis - talk 19:45, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks :) --Ferien (talk) 19:46, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Disambiguation Khuman

The page Khuman is a disambiguation here. But in en wiki, it's not. But still there are many articles with the name Khuman in en wiki. Please fix the disambiguation there. Haoreima (talk) 16:50, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: I don't think those pages are on enwiki, hence why these is no disambiguation there. --Ferien (talk) 16:53, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
But see en:Khuman Salai, en:Khuman, en:Khuman Singh, en:Khuman Lampak Main Stadium. Haoreima (talk) 16:55, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Well I am wrong then. For en:Khuman, I'm wondering what would be the best thing to disambiguate it to. --Ferien (talk) 16:57, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
Well, since I am unable to perform any edits on en wiki, I could not create any Khuman related topics further. So, the best suggestion is to disambiguate every article which mention the word "Khuman" in the en disambiguation. And please make sure to connect the en disambiguation with simple en disambiguation Khuman. Thank you. Haoreima (talk) 17:03, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
I am bad at disambiguations though, so it is probably best for me not to create one there. Although I'm pretty sure with disambiguations there should only be one if something is not the most common thing you're talking about. So for example, w:London is just w:London because when you're talking about London, you are likely going to be talking about London, the capital city. However, you could also be talking about the w:City of London (very centre of London), London in Kiribati, Canada, Serbia, France, Arkansas, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, West Virginia or Wisconsin! But, we need to think whether when you say London, you are going to think whether you are likely going to talk about a community with 200 people or a city with ~10,000,000.
@Haoreima: So, back to what we were actually talking about, w:Khuman. When you say Khuman, are you generally referring to this or something else? --Ferien (talk) 17:12, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
When I mention Khuman, I mean Khuman dynasty because personally, I myself is a descendant of the Khuman dynasty. And en:Khuman has no relationship with us. The en:Khuman Lampak Main Stadium is presently a sports stadium but historically, it has relation with the Khuman Emperors. So, many people of my ethnic group will really get confused with the en:Khuman because it mentions about a clan from western India but my very Khuman is of eastern India. Haoreima (talk) 17:17, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Actually, no, I was wrong above, per w:WP:NWFCTM. Let me look at the traffic to these pages... --Ferien (talk) 17:20, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Hmm. I have looked at the traffic to the pages above and the traffic to Khuman Salai is MUCH (up to 6x) higher than the traffic to Khuman. Maybe a disambiguation page is appropriate. --Ferien (talk) 17:24, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Well, then what I can say is that both Khuman clan (Western Indian) (in en, en:Khuman) and Khuman (eastern Indian) (in en, en:Khuman Salai) are equally popular. Though the page name Khuman (referring to that of West India) was first created without having any knowledge of disambiguation by someone. Now, we must change it. Btw, even simple wiki has a strong testimony. en:Khuman Salai is equivalent to simple:Khuman dynasty. Haoreima (talk) 17:26, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
Wow, I have never known that commoners like us can check viewership for a wiki page though viewership calculation is sometimes published by Wikimedia! BTW, thanks for introducing that to me. Haoreima (talk) 17:31, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi it's me. After few days I was busy in Enwiki on 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election editing. I saw you change your username. Good. Could you please tell your original name. Or nickname better. So that I can recognize you in future. With best wishes. DJRC (talk) 16:53, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

@TTP1233: Hello! I used to be called Belwine, but renamed to Ferien because it's a nicer username :D Regards, --Ferien (talk) 16:54, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
Good. Could you please inform me since I was busy in enwiki. What is the condition in simple wiki now? How many new users are active now. Could you give me this with bit details.DJRC (talk) 16:57, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
@TTP1233: We have a few more active editors, we have a new admin (IWI), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has become a good article and Geisha has been demoted from a very good article to GA. Apart from that, things are about the same as when you left, unless I've forgotten something important. --Ferien (talk) 17:03, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Ok. Thnx DJRC (talk) 17:05, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

New Wikipedia

Hello @Ferien: I saw Ancient Greek Wikipedia Incubator, then, Old English Wikipedia and Latin Wikipedia. Like these, I want to develop a new Wikipedia for Ancient Meitei language. It's code is omp. But I have seen many opposition while struggling for creation of Ancient Greek Wikipedia. See,

What is your suggestion? What shall I do? Haoreima (talk) 18:36, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: Ok. I think you should start a new wiki in Incubator, but follow the steps for how to start a new wiki. I don't have experience in starting a new wiki, so maybe you should ask your friend Awangba Mangang for help, as he started the Meitei Wikipedia. Ask him what he thinks about the idea of an Ancient Meitei Wikipedia. --Ferien (talk) 19:08, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Also, please be sure to make sure browsers can have the language's script code/font installed. Sometimes on my browser, I only see boxes. --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 20:26, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
@つがる: I think it is ok as the Meitei Wikipedia managed to get its own domain, but I see just boxes too. --Ferien (talk) 20:31, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
Yea, it depends on the page you are on, some have text, some have boxes. --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 20:32, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
And it depends on the device too. I noticed that I could see this Meitei text on my phone but not on desktop. --Ferien (talk) 20:49, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
@つがる, Ferien: So, will there be opposition during the request to meta wiki for the script font issue? But mni wiki is already approved, like this, I think omp should be allowed too. And since I am blocked in en wiki, I don't know whether I will face obstacles or not during the request. Haoreima (talk) 03:16, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: You will likely not receive opposition for the issue with how Meitei text is viewed, this didn't seem to be an issue at the Meitei Wikipedia request. And Awangba Mangang is also blocked on enwiki, but he has managed to open mniwiki. You may want to check m:Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Ancient Greek 4 for the arguments for and against an ancient language. --Ferien (talk) 08:06, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
Well, I have thoroughly digested the exhaustive epic of the struggle to achieve grc Wikipedia. But at the very beginning of the page, I saw this:

The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.

It's ok. I started an incubator for omp right now. From now onwards, you may visit here whenever you are free. Haoreima (talk) 09:21, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Oh, congrats for starting the wiki :D
Good luck. --Ferien (talk) 10:58, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: By the way, I made the image smaller on the main page, so it could fit on the main page... Let me know if you have any issues with this. --Ferien (talk) 11:00, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
It's nice you contribute to omp. Actually, I think you might have also known that:

An incubator will be approved as a Wikipedia only when:

  • it has 1000+ articles (don't worry, I will handle it)
  • at least 3 active users performing edits for 3 consecutive months

I request you to be one of the three active users for at least three months. Only 10 edits are needed every month. What is your opinion? Haoreima (talk) 11:24, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

@Ferien: Sure, I will invite them. But I must also consult an expert about that incubator vs wiki source issue for an ancient language.
@つがる: Thank you so much for your kindness. But please visit Ferien's talk page in the incubator and please check on the ongoing issue we are discussing. Haoreima (talk) 04:22, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
@Ferien: I get answers from two users. Please see m:User talk:VIGNERON and incubator:User talk:PastelKos, where I get the privilege to discuss. Besides, I came to know that Ancient Greek as well as Middle English test wiki are still in in incubator but the Greek admin told me that it's likely for ancient languages also to get Wikipedia status (in the same way like normal languages). If you have any knowledge to share with me, I am really fortunate. Haoreima (talk) 10:16, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Sorry @Haoreima: I didn't see this. A wiki in the incubator can be helpful in my opinion. Yeah you have to go through the incubator, but it still exists and can be helpful. --Ferien (talk) 19:53, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Sock tags

Leave sock tagging to the CUs/Admins. Especially the confirmed part. In the case of one I just saw where you switched the confirmed status the two were not confirmed to be the same person which is why they were not marked as confirmed. -Djsasso (talk) 20:26, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Oh, well this category was quite a mess when I saw it, so I was mainly just turning suspected to confirmed because I thought they were confirmed on another page. I just won't touch those then. --Ferien (talk) 20:28, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Btw, if an admin blocks someone as abusing multiple accounts, is it confirmed or suspected? Sometimes it is obvious, with WP:DUCK, but does that make it confirmed? --Ferien (talk) 20:35, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Confirmed requires a CU, though often people will mark it confirmed if it is clearly obvious. We are a bit of a mess on simple with that stuff because everyone tries to tag stuff here. On CUs will yell at you if you change the confirmed status (even if you are a CU on another wiki who has confirmed the two accounts... not that I know from experience lol). I believe the template allows for a "blocked" status instead of confirmed for those situations. That being said, often a bunch of us CUs choose to just not tag at all, Bsadowski for example often doesn't tag. I do depending on the situations. If it is a continuing problem with the same editor for example. Basically if the admin/cu doesn't put the tag on then don't tag it cause we might be trying for WP:DENY. -Djsasso (talk) 20:41, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Oh ok, I just won't put them on in future, I don't think any harm can really be done in that. If it's urgent then someone else can tag it but I can't imagine tagging a sock urgent. And yes, I've noticed before on enwiki they seem to be a lot stricter with the sock tagging. --Ferien (talk) 20:45, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

In mni:ꯋꯤꯀꯤꯄꯦꯗꯤꯌꯥ:WikiProject United Kingdom, something is going wrong. I mean about the page format, the template is going malfunctioned. Please check it. Do you have any idea. In fact, all the contents are just copied from your created page. Haoreima (talk) 15:30, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima:  Y Partly done. I have asked Awangba Mangang to import the collapse templates again as the problem seems to be an issue with them. Dear Ferien,

Can you please apply for adminship? We need a lot more tools to quickly revert vandals!

Yaakov W.Yaakov Wa. (talk) 16:36, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

@Yaakov Wa.: I don't think I'm ready for adminship yet. And as you can see from the above, I can make quite silly mistakes, as I have only been active for four months, and I don't want to be making those with the admin tools. Best regards, --Ferien (talk) 16:51, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Dear @Ferien:,
It seems that you are willing to learn from your mistakes and you recognize when do make them, which is extremely important. Right now there are not enough admins, and even if you do make mistakes, the best way to learn is by making them!
Yaakov W.Yaakov Wa. (talk) 16:56, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
@Yaakov Wa.: Whilst we used to have about 30 administrators (see we also used to have a lot more active users. And the editor to admin ratio is quite high I believe. I think we have enough admins right now. Best regards, --Ferien (talk) 17:04, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @Yaakov Wa.: Adding a new admin wouldn't provide "more tools to quickly revert vandals". Non-admins can revert as quickly as admins, even without rollback. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:27, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Dear @Auntof6:,
I guess what I am saying, is that more admins would help us quickly temp block test editors (don't like term vandal. They are just out to test wikipedia and us), and this would save a lot of time and work. How much sense does this make?
Yaakov W.Yaakov Wa. (talk) 20:33, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
@Yaakov Wa.: You seem to want editors blocked more quickly than we normally do here. Your recent reports at WP:VIP are for editors who have not been warned enough. They should normally have several warnings, in increasing levels for each new bad edit, before being reported. Also, you don't need to say how long a block should be; the admins will choose an appropriate length of time when they block. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:53, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Dear @Auntof6:,
The central idea that you are saying is that test editors (We are not talking about regular users here), should go through a procedure of several cautions and only then be blocked. With the block length determined by the blocking admin. Is this correct?
Yaakov W.Yaakov Wa. (talk) 21:00, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
@Yaakov Wa.: Yes. What's the point in blocking an editor for a test edit if they are only going to do one? Just warn so they know for future and if they don't do it again, it's fine. Also, a lot of editors start out just making test edits and edits that violate Wikipedia's guidelines but you can get a constructive editor out of them if you just let them know about the mistake they made. --Ferien (talk) 21:05, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Dear @Ferien:,
Thanks! I believe you are correct that we should not block for only one test edit. However, if there are any more test edits after a warning (or there are numerous test edits), I believe that an editor should be temp blocked for a short period of time. Kind of like a little tap to get them thinking more clearly. How much sense am I making?
Yaakov W.Yaakov Wa. (talk) 21:11, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
p.s. While we are on the subject of test edits, I personally believe that there should be an "are you sure button" when you press publish. Similarly to how we make an "are you sure" by the thank button. This will save us a whole lot of headaches because when people have to think a little more and not just act on impulse, they tend to make better decisions.
@Yaakov Wa.: You actually press Publish changes twice when you are saving your edits so this is already the case. So yes, we press twice to thank, and press twice to publish. You press Publish changes, then you can press Show preview or Review your changes to double check and then you press Publish changes. --Ferien (talk) 21:14, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Dear @Ferien:,
You are correct that there is an option to look it over. What I am thinking about, and maybe I have to think this over, is making that option mandatory. The rational is that this will help cause editors, to think before they publish. Does this make sense?
Yaakov W.Yaakov Wa. (talk) 21:18, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
@Yaakov Wa.: I don't think that is necessary. Vandal edits here are reverted pretty quickly.
I can't imagine a new editor just clicking twice very quickly, they probably do check that they're doing what they want to do. --Ferien (talk) 21:21, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Dear @Ferien:,

It appears that there are two different conversations going on here. One conversation is about test editors (again, I don't like the term vandal). The other conversation is about users of simple wiki in general. In terms of test editors, the conversation about temp blocks apply, whereas the conversation about mandatory "are you sure you want to publish?" button does not apply, because, if they are genuine test editors, they will, as you correctly said, think before publishing. If they are the not-so-well-intentioned type of test editors, they won't care about pushing the button twice.

However, when talking about regular editors here (not about test editors), I believe a mandatory "are you sure you want to publish?" button, would benefit simple wiki a lot, because, many times we can get frustrated and rush to click that publish button. Have you ever pressed that send button in an email and then immediately regretted it? Making this button would alleviate a lot of those issues.

How logical is this idea?

RFD Withdrawl

Are you sure they can be withdrawn? I saw last year, we had an RFD, and it was not allowed to be withdrawn (Probably because it was a clear delete, see this RFD for the explanation Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 20:36, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Dear @つがる:,
Why not? I, as the proposer, was in full agreement.
Yaakov W.Yaakov Wa. (talk) 20:40, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
I'm not saying it's not allowed, I just wanted to make sure it was okay in this case here, as mentioned that RFD example above was a clear delete, so that may be why it was not allow to be withdrawn. Regards, --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 20:41, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
Dear @つがる:,
I think you got it! There are two scenarios when keeping an article for an RfD. Unanimous consensus and opposition. When it is unanimously agreed upon to keep, then the RfD can be closed. If there is any opposition, the RfD must run its course. How logical is this?
Yaakov W.Yaakov Wa. (talk) 20:52, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
I'm just under the impression that usually RFDs should run the full seven days --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 20:54, 22 April 2021 (UTC)
If they withdrew early on then I think it is ok, and slightly different than the rfd you mentioned. See Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2019/Idiot, that was withdrawn after a lot of keep "votes", so it could depend on the way people "vote". --Ferien (talk) 21:02, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello pal! I am to create a new template about myths. Like this one Template:Jmyth navbox long. It's ready in my sandbox, the Template no. 3. How should I name it (upcoming template)? And is there any rules or special permission I need to create any template I wish? Is there any case of vandalism? Haoreima (talk) 11:52, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

It's too small. Even in the former Japanese template, the image is not too small like that. If there is no problem, then please make it a little bigger. Haoreima (talk) 12:45, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

Closing RFDs

How do you close an RFD? I assume you must be substituting some template. Lights and freedom (talk) 16:28, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

@Lights and freedom: You just use {{subst:archive top}} on the top and {{subst:archive bottom}} on the bottom. (But I used to copy from old RfDs, not realising this...) Then for the result just replace {{in progress}} with {{deleted|reason ~~~~}} or {{kept|reason ~~~~}}. --Ferien (talk) 16:32, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
That makes sense, but the requests I looked at did not have {{in progress}}. Instead, they had something like

:{{lc|Khalil Molanaei}} · <span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2021/Khalil Molanaei|action=edit}} close request]</span>

Lights and freedom (talk) 16:39, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
Maybe you are editing the source of the section that says PAGENAME. Above ===PAGENAME=== you should see
<noinclude>{{in progress}}</noinclude>
<!-- Please change it to either {{deleted|optional reason}} or {{kept|optional reason}}. The archival templates {{subst:archive top}} and {{subst:archive bottom}} are placed at the top and bottom respectively.--> --Ferien (talk) 16:42, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes, I clicked "edit source". I guess you have to click "close request". Lights and freedom (talk) 16:46, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
That probably works better, I just press edit source. --Ferien (talk) 16:47, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

@Lights and freedom: RfDs can be closed when the editors involved in it have reached consensus by an administrator, not by substituting a template I believe. RPBG 💬 🖊 16:34, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

@RPBG: Still, a subsituted template is used. And whilst administrators usually close RfDs, that RfD was just going to be close as a kept, whether an administrator closed it or not, and also considering that the nominator "voted" keep and there were no delete votes, I just did a non-administrator closure and closed the RfD. --Ferien (talk) 16:36, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

@Ferien: Ok, thank you for helping me out with that (you know) :) RPBG 💬 🖊 16:38, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @RPBG: However, since you are fairly new, it's better for you to let others do the closures. There's actually a step that Ferien missed, which is partly why we don't usually do non-admin closures here: people who are responsible for the closures (the admins) stay more familiar with everything that needs to be done.. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:45, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

YouTube links as reference

Despite Wikipedia's guidelines not to add YouTube link as reference, this recently (around February) created page en:List of most-viewed Arabic music videos on YouTube has much of those links. Does this mean that it's still ok for some cases to add YouTube links? Haoreima (talk) 04:16, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: See w:WP:YT, there is not a blanket ban on YouTube videos. However, I don't think YouTube videos should be used as references. --Ferien (talk) 06:17, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) @Haoreima: In that article, the YouTube links are really more to let the reader go watch the video if they want to. They aren't really references, even though they are coded that way. It would have been better to code it differently to make it clear that they are not references, such as by putting the links as external links in a separate column without <ref> tags.
In general, YouTube videos are not reliable sources because anyone can put up a YouTube video. But it depends on a couple of things. First, if the person or organization who put up the video is reliable, then the video might be considered reliable. Second, sometimes YouTube itself is the authority on something, such as how many views a video has gotten; there isn't anywhere else to get that information. --Auntof6 (talk) 11:45, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
@Auntof6: So, since YouTube links are the only sources to know the number of viewers for a particular video, while I am creating another article page about YouTube videos, can I use the links? Haoreima (talk) 14:08, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: I can't really answer that unless I know exactly how you're thinking of using them. --Auntof6 (talk) 14:27, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
@Auntof6: In fact, I fear getting myself the risk of being blocked by admins for violating wiki rules, but at the same time, I want to create an article about the YouTube most viewed videos, citing YouTube links for the information on the number of viewers for the particular videos. Haoreima (talk) 14:29, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: I don't know of any YouTube link that would tell you how many views a video has gotten. As far as I know, you can only link to the video, then the user has to figure out for themselves how to find the number of views. Besides that, if you say that a video has gotten a certain number of views, that number will go out of date and linking to the video won't support that statement. But, like I said, I'd have to know exactly how you were going to do the links to give a good opinion. --Auntof6 (talk) 14:36, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
@Auntof6: Exactly like those in the en wiki page I show in the first talk. I mean exactly like the YouTube link cited for Arabic music "Ashq mot" cited in that page. Haoreima (talk) 14:39, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: I wouldn't do it like that, for the following reasons:

  • If I understand correctly, the reference is supposed to show how many views the video has gotten. If that's what you want, then the reference should be in the views column, not in the video name column.
  • The numbers are already out of date, so using the YouTube videos as references wouldn't match the numbers in the article. The numbers in the article don't match the number of views that the videos have now gotten. I don't think you want to have to keep updating the article, so using YouTube links for that isn't a good idea. Instead, maybe there is some other source you could use that states what the view counts were at a certain time.

--Auntof6 (talk) 14:50, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

@Auntof6: Thank you for your suggestion. Haoreima (talk) 14:52, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Removing a redirect

Do you have any ideas about how to remove a redirect from a page? Haoreima (talk) 15:39, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: Edit the source and just remove "#REDIRECT PAGE". --Ferien (talk) 15:40, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
Do you mean source editing (opposite of visual editing) in mobile view/mobile version or desktop version? Haoreima (talk) 15:46, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Yes. It's a bit more complicated in visual editor in my opinion, you have to go into settings and then remove the redirect there. It's way easier just removing the redirect in source. --Ferien (talk) 15:49, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
Oh I see that! Now, how shall I delete the removed redirected page? Haoreima (talk) 17:48, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: You should probably replace the previous redirect with some content, or another redirect. Or if the redirect that was already there does not apply then maybe you can request it for deletion using {{qd}}, but please check the Wikipedia:Deletion policy. --Ferien (talk) 18:07, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

A request on helping a new page

Hello Farien,

You recently placed a deletion request on the page I'm creating Josephs Quartzy (musician).

Can you please help me take a look at it and see if it contains required sources and it meets all the requirements please?..I think if not you can help me improve it because I'm really trying to make a great article?

Best Regards, (Wlovere (talk) 13:11, 2 May 2021 (UTC))

@Wlovere: Well, not that long ago (only a month ago) there was a request for deletion, see here. I don't think that he would have become more notable since then, and we should probably respect the consensus at the request for deletion by having the page deleted. Best regards, --Ferien (talk) 13:14, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

First I assure you to respect your decision and it's true I saw the deleted page but the editor could do was adding any link he found on his way, this entity was notable a way back and you can go and prove it all by yourself on the notability links I provided I think I made a great catch on lots of them and I gave all 17 if there's any unwanted link can be removed by you the admins. Wlovere (talk) 13:27, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

@Wlovere: At the RfD, it was decided that Josephs Quartzy was not notable. We should respect the consensus there and delete the page. Best regards, --Ferien (talk) 13:32, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, I understand I'll be waiting for either responses from you and other admins(Wlovere (talk) 13:41, 2 May 2021 (UTC))

Just so you know I am not an admin. --Ferien (talk) 13:43, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Do you have any idea about this: Can I use my same user account in everybody wiki? Seems something strange from the general wiki world! Haoreima (talk) 18:35, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

@2601:444:201:9E70:1C28:36AE:D4E0:705A: I am not sure what you're referring to. I accidentally rollbacked your edit adding a QD as mobile Wikipedia is a pain to use. Also, why did you sign as a different IP? I'm not sure what benefit this can give you... --Ferien (talk) 14:57, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
In case you didn't know, there's an option that makes you confirm that you want to do a rollback. A request

Hello Pal! en:Puya Meithaba ( Burning of Puya ) (equivalent of simple:Puya Mei Thaba) is about to get deleted. It has actually broken some wiki guidelines, it's created by User:Luwanglinux. Could you please advise him in good faith what's right and what's wrong? You can even perform tps in the discussion page of en:Talk:History of Manipur. Actually, good references are available in this very simple English equivalent article. Haoreima (talk) 08:24, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Haoreima: You might not know, but "tps" stands for "talk page stalker". It refers to times when someone leaves a message on a user talk page, but a different person answers it. It's what I'm doing right now; you left a message on Ferien's talk page, but I am making a comment on it even though you didn't ask me and this isn't my talk page. Using the {{tps}} template is a way of saying that I know I'm possibly being a little rude by responding to a message that was left for someone else on someone else's talk page. Therefore, tps doesn't apply to article talk pages (like the one you mentioned above), because anyone is entitled to comment on those. --Auntof6 (talk) 11:40, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
@Auntof6: Learning the fact for the first time from you, thank you, Auntof6! Well, there's an active discussion going on. In fact, a war is being fought in the article's talk page. And I wish a peaceful end through understanding. Haoreima (talk) 12:22, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Luwanglinux seems to have already been advised and unfortunately, he has been blocked over there for a week for edit warring. And, as I don't really know what was going on over there, it probably isn't best for me to step in. Regards, --Ferien (talk) 15:25, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: And besides what Ferien said, since you are blocked on enwiki, you aren't supposed to be asking people to do things there. Ferien could get into trouble for doing things there for you. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:51, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

@2605:6440:4002:0:0:0:0:2F6A: so you are making me think that requesting the article for deletion definitely was a good idea. See conflicts of interest. If you have one, it's best not to edit the article. The article sounds really promotional, which is why I requested it for deletion. --Ferien (talk) 16:57, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello Ferien (talk), I tried my best to keep the article neutral by excluding all the superlative adjectives, adding as much neutral words as possible and only keeping facts which I could verify. Vandal talk pages

I don't think I have any policy or guideline to base this on, other then maybe WP:DENY, but it might save you some headache to just not revert already blocked ips vandalizing their own talk pages. An admin will most likely eventually revoke talk page access, and they're not harming any content. Reverting them might just egg them on. Im not saying to stop outright, just something to think about. Might be better to just let them run out of steam on their own page until an admin gets to them. --Gordonrox24 | Talk 19:57, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Yeah, apologies, I stopped reverting a few minutes ago. With this editor I generally revert a few times and then stop. Sometimes they revert as soon as I revert, sometimes they don't revert at all. --Ferien (talk) 20:02, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
Please see my response at User talk:Eptalon/Archive 20#Urgent. PotsdamLamb (talk) 20:05, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
Still, I think WP:DENY applies. They are trying to disrupt the project and have been for many years. --Ferien (talk) 20:07, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
Yes which is why they only got a final warning so it was in place for me to ask for the block :) PotsdamLamb (talk) 20:09, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
But just so you know for future, this editor is WMF-banned. No warnings are required; you can ask stewards for a global lock/block right away when seeing this particular editor. --Ferien (talk) 20:11, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
FYI - Eptalon did revoke TP access; also Ferien, the IP did not create any content. He just vandalized a crapload of pages that I was able to revert all of them I believe including others talk pages. PotsdamLamb (talk) 20:08, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello! Thank you for creating Category:Establishments in Austria by year. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. If you think there might be more pages to add to the new category, please add them now. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 04:17, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello pal! Are you vaccinated for COVID-19? For me, I have done today. It's too late but I am lucky because in my country, the government is unable to provide it sufficiently to public. Many lives from my locality are claimed, so suddenly worried about you. Haoreima (talk) 15:45, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: I am under 18 so I am not, at least currently, being vaccinated for COVID-19. However, most of the British population have now received a vaccination, I believe over 60,000,000 now. --Ferien (talk) 15:49, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: I don't really see a need to reveal my age on Wikipedia. I am here to build an encyclopedia after all and so I prefer giving as little information about myself as possible here.
However, regarding the vaccine, it looks like under 18s may be able to get a vaccine sometime late this year if this research suggests that it is safe for them to have the jab: --Ferien (talk) 16:00, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

How come we're not sending warnings to long-term abusers on Simple English Wikipedia? Angela Kate Maureen 19:45, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

@Tropical Storm Angela: Mainly because I find it makes things worse and also this particular editor is WMF-banned and they have been warned multiple times over the 15 years since he created his account. If you want the LTA page it's w:WP:LTA/GRP. --Ferien (talk) 19:47, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
I almost wonder if it would be useful to have a template saying something like "this IP is a long-term abuser; no warnings are needed, and may be blocked on sight" -- or equivalent. That way people unfamiliar with the person wouldn't waste time leaving warnings. Optional parameters in the template would include putting a link to an LTA page. Antandrus (talk) 19:49, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
I might make it in userspace sometime as I am having to explain to quite a few people. --Ferien (talk) 19:50, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Another possibility of course is just writing a single line -- "This is w:WP:LTA/GRP; block this IP asap". Or something. But a template would save five seconds I suppose. Antandrus (talk) 19:51, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
I've just made one: User:Ferien/Warnings/Banned. Feel free to change it if you want. I don't have much knowledge on templates but I think this is ok. --Ferien (talk) 20:12, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
How can editors tell whether or not a Simple English Wikipedia editor is a longterm abuser? Angela Kate Maureen 20:15, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Behaviour is the main way you can tell. I'll send you some diffs via email of this particular LTA. And there aren't many long-term abusers around simple, only a few. --Ferien (talk) 20:19, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello Ferien, I saw you assisted with a vandalism problem on Verdis. There is an angry user requesting removal of the article on Talk:Verdis, can this possibly be responded to? I am still new to Wikipedia. From the research I've looked at, the user is continuously getting in conflicts on English Wikipedia and Dutch Wikipedia, and is largely biased. He claims and are not large enough sources. What's your thoughts? BrodieMan201 (talk) 00:20, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello @BrodieMan201: There was a consensus on the English Wikipedia to delete the article, see here and so we could start an RfD (Request for Deletion) if that user thinks that the "Free Republic of Verdis" doesn't deserve an article here. --Ferien (talk) 05:48, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
The consensus was resolved to switch Verdis back to a redirect on English Wikipedia. This user seems to continuously be angry and causing conflicts claiming that the micronation is a hoax since it was founded by a kid, but micronations aren't meant to be taken seriously anyway. (talk) 06:08, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
Agreed. Shouldn't be removed just because of an old man's bias and disagreement about a state's views. BrodieMan201 (talk) 06:10, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
@BrodieMan201: Actually, the page is currently deleted with no redirect, and protected with create protected (only admins can create it). There has obviously been a lot of recreations despite the consensus. --Ferien (talk) 06:14, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
I just took a look and from what I can see in logs, the redirect was accepted before the most recent deletion but was deleted upon the page's creators block for something. BrodieMan201 (talk) 06:40, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
@BrodieMan201: The most recent XFD's consensus was to delete. I have asked The Banner whether an RfD here would be appropriate. --Ferien (talk) 18:21, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

I was just playing with the templates. Again, give me a freaking chance to reverse it and stop jumping on top of everything the moment I do it. It’s starting to get annoying. PotsdamLamb (talk) 07:28, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

Playing with the templates is doing an editing test and tests shouldn't be made on recently active IPs who are blocked. It still gives them the notification on their talk page and it also may confuse them that testing is done on their talk page. For testing, as you know, you can use the sandbox or warn an IP that cannot edit, like the one on the VIP header. You don't need to do it on an active IP address, that's just testing editing which as you know, should not be outside of the sandbox. --Ferien (talk) 10:26, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

@Hockeycatcat: No problem for the welcome, I have seen you around on enwiki. Some users have copied RedWarn from enwiki (as an example, see User:JJPMaster/RedWarn.js) However, I find Twinkle is all that's really necessary over here. Kind regards, --Ferien (talk) 17:16, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

While I do understand the concept, it has been stated over and over that warnings need to be present for an admin to take action. This is a direct quote for an ip user who was vandalizing Canada

“Warned user. Please leave warnings before reporting here. Auntof6 (talk) 05:33, 30 May 2021 (UTC)”

Not everyone knows all the tell tell signs of these people but generally their talk pages should not be cleared out especially with warnings as when/if they come back, we have the instant reference and do not need to shuffle through their contribution history to see what happened. I AGF roll backed your blanking of the IP talk page. Thanks! PotsdamLamb (talk) 10:16, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

@PotsdamLamb: When someone says "I like vandalism!" or "I want a block" on many talk pages, it's quite obvious that they are looking to be blocked or to cause harm. This has been going on for over 12 years. The warnings are designed to stop the user, not to become a way of counting reverts. Also this user is banned by the community and they're evading their ban so they can be blocked without warning.
Warnings are not required anyway, they are just preferred. See this part of the Wikipedia:Blocks and bans policy: However, administrators can block a user at any time if they are abusing Wikipedia on purpose or going against other policies. Going on user talk pages and saying "I like vandalism!" is clearly abusing Wikipedia on purpose.
And finally, I know that looking at user talk warnings is easier than looking a little at users' contributions but administrators should be checking reports pretty thoroughly before taking action. Regards, --Ferien (talk) 14:26, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
I am aware of all of that, but I am looking at from the user standpoint, not the admin standpoint or what admins should and should not be doing. Since IPs will be eventually unblocked (for the most part) the warnings should stay on the page, so that way there is the history. Now if the user wipes the page, that is a different story, as they don't get pages anyways. This is my opinion. PotsdamLamb (talk) 15:36, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
@PotsdamLamb: Sure, I understand if the user, instead of the IP, wipes the page then it is a little different. Although, the IPs don't need to even see those old warnings for the history as it is designed for the person vandalising not everyone on the IP. On enwiki, editors sometimes go through and replace ancient talk page messages with {{OW}} as they don't need to be seen anymore. I just blank them as there's no need for the warnings to be there and it is just giving the vandal the attention they want. I should probably replace them with {{OW}} instead, for transparency/history... Regards, --Ferien (talk) 15:46, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
I think that would work better. :) BTW, you added that box to the RfD. I created the minimum necessary to tag the users as we didn't have them. :) PotsdamLamb (talk) 15:48, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
@PotsdamLamb: I added it because it had got three keep !votes with basically no reason. A keep !vote with explanation would be much more helpful than a keep !vote with none... Regards, :) --Ferien (talk) 16:10, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

Empty cleanup categories

Just thought I would let you know those pages QD themselves when they are emptied. You don't need to put a tag on them. -Djsasso (talk) 17:04, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

@Djsasso: Actually, they don't seem to go into quick deletion requests automatically even though they are empty, although it may be an issue on my side. --Ferien (talk) 17:06, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
It is almost definitely caching on your side. Though it could also be the job queue hadn't put them there yet. I regularly delete them from the cat so I know they usually work. -Djsasso (talk) 17:07, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh ok, I was just noticing categories from a few years ago that had the deletion request on them still. Although, it could be the case that the categories were cleared relatively recently. Putting the QD tag seems to put them in CAT:QD immediately after but the automatic one doesn't, at least for me anyway... --Ferien (talk) 17:10, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Turns out, it's even stranger than I thought! The infoboxes were copied from the English Wikipedia, so the "misinformation" came from there. In fact, if you look at the Serbian Wikipedia article and check the English one, you'll see that it also has the same fake headquarters writing (I'll bring that up to ENWiki editors, so you might have to check the page's history if it gets removed). Cheers! Etoza (?) 18:59, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

You do not have to put QD requests on the empty maintenance categories. QD requests will appear on those automatically. I saw my sandbox has been vandalized 3 times. Can I protect the sandbox from being edited by anonymous and users who arnt extended confirmed? Haoreima (talk) 20:03, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

@Haoreima: We don't have extended confirmed protection/users on this wiki. However, as User:Haoreima/sandbox is in your user subpage, you can request for it to be semi-protected, so IPs and users with under 10 edits can't edit it. You can request semi-protection on User:Haoreima/sandbox on the administrators' noticeboard or on an admin's talk page. Semi-protection should be enough protection for your sandbox. Your talk page looks exactly similar to that of MacDonald Ross. It's explicitly different from mine, or others'. If you change your desktop view edition to mobile view edition, it's clearly visible that all the talks (not so archived till now) we're all hidden under the column "Add new discussion". It's only after pressing the long blue color button "Read as Wikipedia page", I can see all the hidden talks, even this current one. For better knowledge, compare yours with mine. Haoreima (talk) 20:53, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

No, everything remains hidden until I press the button. Haoreima (talk) 21:12, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Ok, @Haoreima: have you ever been able to read talk page messages of mine without pressing "Read as wiki page"? I recall being able to on my phone recently. --Ferien (talk) 21:13, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Till yesterday, everything was fine. I regularly look at your talk page even when I don't talk with you. It's only today, everything got mess up. As of now, without pressing the button, I can't see or read. Haoreima (talk) 21:21, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Your case is slightly different from MacDonald Ross'. In his, two talks are already seen. But within the second one, a lot of talks are still hidden. But in your case, seems like there's no talk active in the page. Because all are hidden. Haoreima (talk) 21:24, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
One thing I can suggest you is to check the entire content of this very talk page, from A to Z (including even a single template or a tag). That will really help you to understand what is wrong with the page! Edit history check up will also be helpful. Haoreima (talk) 05:54, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
I revert all vandalism on the page and the top, apart from the font code addition, is the same. Let me see what happens when I remove the font. --Ferien (talk) 05:55, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Seems like the font must have confused the mobile site! You can see all topics without pressing "Read as wiki page" now. --Ferien (talk) 05:56, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
Belwine! See everyone got fine now within a few seconds (after your last reply). Check yourself through mobile view edition. Have you done something? Haoreima (talk) 05:57, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Yep, I removed the font. That seemed to confuse the mobile site. --Ferien (talk) 05:58, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
Oh yes! Everything's fine now. My last reply was published within a fraction of seconds just after yours. LOL! Haoreima (talk) 05:59, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
Once again! See yours:-05:56, mine:-05:57 again yours:-05:58, mine:-05:59 very interesting. Haoreima (talk) 06:01, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
I have a little confusion. Is England currently in day or night? My place is currently a mid day! Haoreima (talk) 06:20, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Day, it's the morning and it's currently 7:22am. --Ferien (talk) 06:22, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

7:22 am! Mine is 11:52 am. Very interesting! Haoreima (talk) 06:23, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

It's almost one whole day passed after I request for protection of my sandbox in the administrators' noticeboard. But no response is seen. What best can I do? Haoreima (talk) 20:55, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: The only advice I have is just wait for an admin to respond. Eventually, an admin will protect your page. --Ferien (talk) 20:57, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
One thing I noticed frequently is that when a vandal commit vandalism on multiple pages including my sandbox and other articles, bots or admins revert their actions in the article pages but left my sandbox unreverted (when I ain't active in Wikipedia). What do you think? Is this based on the personal thinking of the very users? Haoreima (talk) 21:02, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Maybe they just don't notice the vandalism in your sandbox, they won't just leave it on purpose. --Ferien (talk) 21:06, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
Till now, it's only you who noticed vandalism on my related pages. Thanks for reply. Haoreima (talk) 21:09, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Auntof6 has now protected your user page. --Ferien (talk) 21:28, 18 June 2021 (UTC)

About Neptune

Good day! Can you check the article about Neptune and leave a comment? Appreciate it.Thank you in advance. Frontfrog (talk) 19:54, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

@Frontfrog: Ok. I'll have a look at it. I'm not the best at reviewing potential GAs but I'll try! --Ferien (talk) 20:14, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
@Frontfrog:   Done! Thanks for your work on the article, it's looking great. :D --Ferien (talk) 20:59, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
Thank you so much too for your comment! Frontfrog (talk) 05:44, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

Do you think it is ready to be nominated for GA? --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 21:07, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

I just took a quick look at it; I think it's good but not ready for GA yet. The language is simple which is great but as the tag says, I think it needs a few more sources. The potential is definitely there though :) --Ferien (talk) 21:11, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

New article

Hello pal! I want en:List of Manipuri kings to be written in simple wiki too. Since the article is about the list of names, do we still need it to be simplified? Or, can we just copy and paste it? Haoreima (talk) 12:58, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

And what about en:Template:Kingdom of Manipur? Haoreima (talk) 13:11, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
No. You should not copy and paste it for a couple of reasons:
  1. Copyright - although you can attribute it in the edit summary
  2. The fact that simple wiki is meant to be written in Simple English and normal wikipedia isn't written in simple english
  3. Avoid just listing names, as this wiki isn't solely a wiki for lists
Hope this helps. SHB2000 (talk) 14:15, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: I had a look at w:List of Manipuri kings. It shouldn't be copy and pasted completely. I feel like all sections apart from the lead and Burmese rule could be copy and pasted without simplification. For the other sections, I think simplification is necessary. You'll need to remember attribution, though.
@SHB2000: Sometimes, stubs on enwiki can actually be simple enough and A3 requests can be denied if this is the case. A3 is for copy and pastes from enwiki that are complex.
There have been occasions where I have only needed to make a couple of adjustments to a copy of an enwiki article before publishing it here. For example, List of postcode districts in the United Kingdom.
Hope this helps,

British English

I don't find any difference between English and British English in the wikipedia user language settings. Now, I have set mine in British English. Do you find any difference? Haoreima (talk) 07:11, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi Haoreima, this is probably because only the interface is changed into British English, not the article. Also in the interface I can't imagine there being many differences between American and British English, which is probably why you can't notice it. Best regards,--Ferien (talk) 09:09, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Hello pal! I have started editing in wiki data. Now, I am connecting some pages at inter wiki. Please check if I am doing right or wrong! Thank you. Haoreima (talk) 18:02, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Yep, they seem fine. Just some advice though: you don't need to spend time adding the Simple English descriptions, labels and aliases. I believe people reading in Simple English get the English descriptions, labels and aliases automatically. Regards, --Ferien (talk) 18:05, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Why so? I mean if simple English description isn't added, and if general English description is added only, then will the description appear in the simple English wikipedia article? Haoreima (talk) 18:09, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: I've tried viewing Wikidata pages in Simple English before. If there isn't a Simple English description, alias or label then the English one will appear. I can only assume that if you viewed short descriptions here it would take the English one on Wikidata. You can add the Simple English descriptions if you want, you just don't need to. Regards, --Ferien (talk) 18:13, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Thank you. Haoreima (talk) 18:17, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
And, I am happy that I will no longer disturb you for the connection, except for some suggestions. Cheers! Haoreima (talk) 18:21, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Still, if you need any help with Wikidata, please let me know. I'll be happy to help. :) --Ferien (talk) 19:02, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Pal! This I created but another already existed in the name "Eputhou Thangjing". What shall we do? Haoreima (talk) 04:24, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: I have merged the two items. --Ferien (talk) 05:44, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
Thanks but I want to create an item for Thangjing (disambiguation)=mni:ꯊꯥꯡꯆꯤꯡ. What about this? Haoreima (talk) 06:06, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: Ok, you can create a new item to link them together, as a disambiguation page on Wikipedia. You can put the description in English as Wikimedia disambiguation page. --Ferien (talk) 06:09, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
But one thing, wiki data item for templates on wikipedia are asked to link at least 3 connections. What about minimum no. for disambiguation? Haoreima (talk) 06:11, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
@Haoreima: I'm not aware of a minimum number of connections for disambiguation pages. I think the minimum amount of pages that need to be connected on any Wikidata item is one zero as many Wikidata items don't have any connections to pages on Wikipedia. --Ferien (talk) 06:14, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I believe you are correct. I believe Wikidata is meant to be a general database of knowledge, not just for Wikimedia projects. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Auntof6 (talkcontribs) 06:15, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, if you go to wikidata:Special:Random and open up several pages, you'll find a majority of them don't have links to any Wikimedia project. --Ferien (talk) 16:10, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Setting the MediaWiki Interface to British English just changes the links on your end. It does not affect the page content or article content being displayed. --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 03:06, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for all the housekeeping you've been doing! I recognise your work. Cheers Hockeycatcat (talk) 09:17, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for the message Hockeycatcat! Happy to help :) --Ferien (talk) 10:20, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

I saw no bug in this wiki. Then, I am confused why there's malfunctioning in the mni wiki template. Haoreima (talk) 07:05, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Well, as you don't see neither dot nor question mark, what do you see? Haoreima (talk) 07:07, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Haoreima Sorry I meant to say I saw the box with the ? in it. See mni, it seems to be fixed now. --Ferien (talk) 15:28, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
