Indented tables

I cleaned up the indented tables causing your user page to display improperly. I also tweaked the userbox section to use wiki tables and a couple minor formating issues. -- Creol(talk) 12:05, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProjects

Hello again. As you can see from my contributions ubx, I've been pretty active here this last 18 hours, reverting vandalism, creating articles, etc. I was wondering if I could start a WikiProject here. If I can, may I have a page that shows you about wikiprojects (if such page exists :P). Thanks, Eagle. -- RyanCross (talk) 19:11, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's been started. Feel free to join, but it's still in construction. -- RyanCross (talk) 19:56, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
You can create the ubx. I'll see how it looks when its done. -- RyanCross (talk) 21:24, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Look good. Thanks, RyanCross (talk) 21:47, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
I was wondering if there was a list of baseball players here. That could be useful for my wikiproject. --RyanCross (talk) 22:47, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay, now this might be one of the longest lists ever created. I'll go ahead and start adding to it. -- RyanCross (talk) 22:54, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Moving pages

I'm guessing that users can't move pages. Can only admins move pages or can autoconfirmed users move pages? --RyanCross (talk) 23:38, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't have the tab yet since I'm not an autoconfirmed user yet. In 3 days I should have in there. Thanks anyway. ;) -- RyanCross (talk) 23:44, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do you think you can review me? Thanks, RyanCross (talk) 04:48, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Baseball uniform

Hey! I noticed you were online. I was wondering if you would like to help me get baseball uniform to WP:GA status. Can you help? Oh, by the way, I redesigned my user page. The other one was too boring. -- RyanCross (talk) 00:28, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The problem is right now with the article is that there are many red links. I'm currently creating those as stubs. Sure, I'll let you look over and copyedit the article. And thanks for saying my user page looks good. -- RyanCross (talk) 00:39, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, I wasn't really planning to nominate it now. I just needed some help with it. I'll be busy with something right now. Thanks, RyanCross (talk) 01:36, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, thanks. :D -- RyanCross (talk) 03:44, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
I just put in my thoughts and help into the article to help get it to GA status as quickly as possible. I wrote on the article's talk page what I think still needs to be done before it can gain GA status. Cheers, Razorflame 03:53, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hehe, yes I go to bed. A six-eight hour nap is good enough for me. Let's just say I'm very dedicated to this project. -- RyanCross (talk) 06:00, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yup, but probably not as active as today. But I should have at least 750 quality edits by the end of tomorrow on my third day here. ;) Good night. :D -- RyanCross (talk) 06:09, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it me. :P I was offline for most of the day though. I should be active again now. -- RyanCross (talk) 02:09, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Actually "broke down" stretches the truth...The automatic sliding door broke and we only have about 40 miles left on the warranty to get it fixed and needed every mile of that to get the vehicle to the dealership to get it fixed. Redirects

Why are you creating redirects to O RLY? named Jonathan the Snowy Owl, Fark owl, Orly owl? They do not seem to have any connection. You are also creating too many redirects to one article. Chenzw  Talk  02:11, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

That was tiring...

Ack, yeah... when I was watching simple wikipedia today, three vandals started vandalizing out of nowhere. No admins or registered users were online so I had to clean up all of their edits, reverting all their bad edits, warning them (I reported one at WP:AIV) and tagging nonsense creations. Just look at the beginning of today's recent changes. It's a good thing they stopped. The worst vandal was blocked a few hours later by User:Gwib. He finished the cleaning up by deleting the nonsense articles and blocking the vandal. That was a relief. -- Ryan†Cross (talk) 07:48, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

But when we have thousands of players, what will happen? -- Ryan†Cross (talk) 06:46, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Evolution..

Hello, I am in the process of "re-vamping" Evolution so that it can still be a very good article. I invite yxou to contribute what oyu think can be done. In the revampled article I created a section called Responses to the idea of evolution. It links to Social responses to the idea of evolution as a main article. When the first ideas of evolution began to be discussed (afaik Lamarckism) there were of course people who did not like it; ever since, people have talked about it.

I would be glad if you could do a proofreading/copyediting

Ohai. Gwib an me filled recent changes with our copyediting and wikifying today. Just skim through Special:RecentChanges and our contributions. Oh, and I saw the message above this one, and I'm also helping the cause. You could be of help. Cheers, RyanCross (talk) 00:13, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, not really the for "edit counts". Razorflame just didn't wikify his article creations completely. Cheers, RyanCross (talk) 00:51, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes. Certain words should be linked to be properly wikified and that word wasn't linked in a lot of his articles. Cheers. RyanCross (talk) 00:57, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Birds

American Eagle, I have just reverted your changes. The word "like" was used correctly in every single instance where you changed it. I suppose you did it to avoid confusion with the use of the word as a verb to indicate a positive feeling eg "I like icecream".

The word "like" is correctly use as a conjunction, forming a " simile" (saying that two things are similar). Many of your changes made absolute nonsense of the sense, or else resulted in a statement which was simply false!

"Though birds are warm-blooded creatures such as mammals, they do not give birth to live babies." Nonsense!

This is one of your changes which has resulted in a ridiculous inaccuracy. Birds are not warm-blooded creatures such as mammals. This makes mammals a sub-category of Birds! Birds are warm-blooded creatures like mammals.

let me say once again that this use of the word "like" is a simple, old, correct English use. If you have mmade similar changes to other web pages, then please revert them, because it is creating chaos.

Hey American Eagle - I see you've put Mr Spurgeon up for VGA. I'd like to help. User page changes

To prevent potential nested tables (you already have one) and make future changes simplier, you may want to keep the basic table setup on your main user page and just put the content of each section into sub-pages rather than including the table content in the sub-pages. This will greatly help with things from cleaning table issues to complete page redesigns. -- Creol(talk) 01:55, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Baseball uniform

I've done some major referencing to the article, just look at Special:RecentChanges and my recent contributions. :) I'll nominate it soon. -- RyanCross (talk) 05:37, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Oh, and thank you for your help also. I don't see really anything wrong with the article. I'll keep on adding references. Cheers, RyanCross (talk) 05:45, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Citations/References

I was just wondering if you knew whether or not is is considered ok to cite other Wikipedias as sources when adding citations to an article. I tried once before but someone removed it so could you clarify this for me. Cheers.

Ana's refs

Well, as far as I'm concerned, if the title on the web page doesn't use the diacritic then the title in the {{cite web}} should reflect that. If the diacritic is there then fine. Either way, how do you feel about the article now it meets all 10 criteria for VGA? The Rambling Man (talk) 19:36, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

PS: I read about your sister on Simple Talk. Congratulations!
I will try to review you when I have a bit more time (I don't want to rip you off by only spending the minute or two I have now). Perhaps I can do it tonight. I like your user page. I've never spent much time on mine since I don't stick around for more than a week or two at a time. Maybe I will improve it some day. As for Charles Spurgeon, I hope he makes it as a good article. I would hope for featured, but somehow I don't think our current admins would go for it. Anyway, I've enjoyed my stint here at Simple. Perhaps I'll be back tonight or tomorrow. --Andrew from NC (talk) 19:57, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Samford University

When you created the article Samford University, you called it "Bob Jones University" at the top of the infobox. I guessed this was wrong so changed it to "Samford University" - that is right, isn't it? Thanks, - tholly --Turnip-- 17:39, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

It was my pleasure to help. As you know I'm new around here so all I'm trying to do is improve the place, make good (or very good!) articles and make Simple English Wikipedia a great place. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:56, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re:Chris

There are several problems with Chris's article. For one thing it needs extensive expanding in the career section...there needs to be a personal life section added.. Promotions section removed cause it not that notable...what's notable will be documented in the career section. A section document the events surrounding his death. Sources. As per the discussion before I left, are you ready for an RfA? I am willing to nominate you if you are still willing to run.

Also, can you tell me some of the happenings/going-ons around this site while I was away?

Cheers, Razorflame 17:45, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

O_O, your running an RfA without my nomination. :O Well, at least your running. Good luck! ;) -- RyanCross (talk)
Yeah, I do. I just wonder if I could squeeze in my nomination. Do you think I could do that, or should I just WP:BE BOLD? -- RyanCross (talk) 01:50, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
If you really want to nominate, you are, by all means, completely allowed to co-nominate. I decided to be the main nominator because I realized that I would have too much to say about this user to be a co-nominator. Cheers, Razorflame 01:52, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Done. You might want to tweak your acceptance a bit. Thanks, RyanCross (talk) 02:40, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh no!

I know. Well this is probably my last one for a bit. The whole Wimbledon thing going on right now has inspired me! If you want to suggest something else (similar!) I can turn my hand to then please do! Anyway, Anna's article is far from complete right now so it won't be quite the speedy success of Ana Ivanovic (and I haven't finished expanding her article either). I'm actually really enjoying the fact that Ivanovic, Hantuchova and (soon) Kournikova will have better referenced articles here than on en-wiki! The Rambling Man (talk) 18:33, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well I hope so. I don't want this to become "Simple English Eastern European Female Tennis Wikipedia" but the subject matter interests me! Next up will probably be a local geography article or something odd like Airbus A320. Then back to something more interesting like Maria Sharapova! The Rambling Man (talk) 18:39, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Obviously she was a big favourite of mine then she started whining too much when she didn't win everything, and she screams too much when she plays, and her odd Russian/US accent doesn't help either. But she's a great player and usually streets ahead of the competition. So she'll get the TRM treatment eventually! The Rambling Man (talk) 18:45, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
