Twinkle

Hi! Did you know that instead of manually placing warn templates on user talk pages, you could use Twinkle instead? 2601:402:4400:3A90:A1CA:F934:9968:BF44 (talk) 20:00, 10 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Yes, I know that, but unfortunately Twinkle cannot be used on mobile devices. Twinkle is not compatible with mobile devices, so when I edit from my phone I can't use it (and switching to desktop mode is impractical). But thank you for mentioning it :). November 2024

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make helpful changes to Wikipedia. However, some of your changes, like those to "Alycia Debnam-Carey", did not seem to be helpful and have been reverted or removed. If you want to try out changing Wikipedia to learn more about how it works, please use the sandbox. Thank you. –Davey2010Talk 13:17, 21 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Davey2010: Are you kidding me? You should get such a template for entering changes into an article without sources. BZPN (talk) 13:20, 21 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Explanation about the article

Sorry for the edits I made, but I noticed that the article previously contained personal opinions and subjective statements, which are not aligned with Wikipedia’s guidelines for neutrality (NPOV). Some sections seemed to focus on personal views, such as describing the Toyota Century's appearance as 'looking good in black' or comparing it to other cars like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan without proper sourcing. Additionally, there were unverified claims, such as a possible convertible version of the car.

I revised the article to ensure it was presented in a neutral and factual manner, with a focus on verifiable information from reliable sources. My intention was to remove subjective language and unsupported statements, following Wikipedia's standards for objectivity.

I hope these changes help improve the quality of the article. Thank you for understanding. 179.109.141.185 (talk) 16:18, 26 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have decided to submit the article to RfD (you can see the discussion here). Best regards, BZPN (talk) 16:37, 26 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

RfD nomination of Template:AI-notice

An editor has requested deletion of Template:AI-notice, a page you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the page meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2024/Template:AI-notice and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the page during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the page; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. --Ferien (talk) 21:50, 26 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations for becoming a new Rollbacker! Isn't it a lot easier to revert edits now? My advice is that you should probably check the box that says Require confirmation before performing rollback on mobile devices in the Gadgets page of your preferences. Hello, I have added reliable sources to the article to ensure that the information is verifiable according to Wikipedia's guidelines. The tag has been removed as the content now has proper references. Thank you for your feedback and assistance. 179.109.141.185 (talk) 14:47, 29 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, there is still a lack of sources - they should confirm all the information, but they are available only in two places. Additionally, wikitext formatting should be improved and internal links added. See Help:Formatting and Help:Link. BZPN (talk) 15:09, 29 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your feedback and for your thorough review of the article. I am relatively new to editing on Wikipedia and I am focused on creating articles about cars. I understand that more sources are needed to verify the information, and I will continue to add reliable references to ensure the article meets Wikipedia's standards. I appreciate your patience and guidance as I work on improving this article. 179.109.141.185 (talk) 16:01, 29 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Discussion Still Ongoing After December 3rd

Hello

I noticed that the discussion regarding the Toyota Century article, which was scheduled to end on December 3rd, is still active. I would like to clarify that I am the same user who contributed to the discussion previously and raised concerns about the article containing too many subjective opinions and a lack of proper sources.

Please note that my IP address may change over time, but I am still the same person who edits and creates car articles and who brought up the initial issues with this article.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. 179.109.143.14 (talk) 02:12, 6 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Yes, I understand that, but I cannot close this discussion. According to the rules, it must remain open for at least 7 days, and only an administrator can close it before that. Thank you for your understanding and notifying me. Best regards, BZPN (talk) 06:33, 6 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks but can you tell the steps with few words please??? Please i reallyneed help.Akaumari (talk) 23:06, 9 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Akaumari First, you need to make sure that the words are simple enough for people to understand (WP:BE1500 can help with words you are not sure with adding). For example, [...] where people lived in complete happiness and had extraordinarily long lifespans (from en:Boreas (god)) would probably be written as [...] where people lived happily and had very long lives in Simple English.
Sometimes you will also have to break up long sentences. For example, Boreas is depicted as being very strong, with a violent temper to match (from en:Boreas (god)) would probably be written as Boreas is shown as being very strong. He also had a bad temper in Simple English.
Also, instead of things like External links and See also, it is Other websites and Related pages here, according to WP:MOS. Have fun, happy editing, and welcome to Wikipedia! ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 23:21, 9 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Adding Reliable Sources on Toyota Century Article

Hello again,

Sorry for being persistent, but I was wondering if you think it would be beneficial to add more reliable sources to the Toyota Century article. I believe that doing so could help address the concerns raised earlier regarding the article's subjective opinions and ensure it meets Wikipedia's standards for verifiability and neutrality.

Looking forward to your feedback! 179.109.143.14 (talk) 00:17, 10 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your message. I completely agree with you. The article needs general improvement and sources are especially important. Can I help you with that in any way? BZPN (talk) 06:17, 10 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

i agree that the article needs reliable sources and improvement like:new introduction the sections:1 gen 2 and 3 gen 2 gen would have ===Century Royal=== and in 3 ===Century SUV but simplified and neutral how about me expanding more short car articles do you agree? Explanation of My Article Creation Process

Hello again,

I create articles with the help of ChatGPT, but I make sure to remove any non-neutral words. I also add infoboxes, sources, and also i create articles manually. For example, the new Fangchengbao Bao 5 article that I created myself, using the English Wikipedia article as a base, has different wording and includes proper sources and also a markets section that i always add in my articles.

I hope you understand my approach also again happy merry christmas and a happy new year to you hope everything good happens to you in the next year.

Best regards, 179.109.143.159 (talk) 22:13, 20 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Thank you for your wishes :). As for your articles, they really don't show the use of AI (which is of course good) . However, please remember to add citations to all information and do not leave paragraphs without sources. Please also remember to add links to other articles. Thank you, and Merry Christmas! Invasive Spices

I don't know if you saw my most recent comment on WP:DRV. If you haven't, short version is they were blocked on enwiki a few years ago for "Persistent creation of unhelpful redirects despite many being deleted at WP:RfD, and repeated personal attacks against RfD nominators" and the first part seems to be happening here now. Some of those redirects on the sterilization article just make no sense, especially here on simple en. I think if this continues, WP:AN is going to be needed. Ravensfire (talk) 19:38, 21 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Ravensfire. Thank you for your message. I think you're right. That's why I suggested that maybe an admin should warn them before creating even more nonsense redirects. For now, I'm submitting them to RfD because Auntof6 doesn't think they're suitable for QD. Best regards, BZPN (talk) 19:48, 21 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think I'm going to sit on this but if there's one more redirect created that's unlikely or any unpleasant comments at the AFD's you've started it will be time for AN. Ravensfire (talk) 19:56, 21 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for taking care of this. I wish you a Merry Christmas! BZPN (talk) 19:59, 21 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
You too! And a fun (and safe) New Years! Ravensfire (talk) 20:02, 21 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey - a thought I had for similar requests like this in the future. I left this on Invasive Spice's talk page, but also wanted to leave it here for you. I think having one RfD per target, with each redirect listed there and asking editors to dicuss keeping all, deleting all or a mix of the two would have been a better approach as the same comments are being made on all of them. Too late for this, but I will also leave a comment on BZPN's talk page with this thought for the future. It makes the discussions easier to track for everyone involved and would make participation simpler for everyone. The automated tools make the process of creating them easier, but if you create one, and then edit that request (and the notice on the creator's talk page) to add the other pages, then copy the template to the other pages, it should be pretty easy to do. There's enough comments that I think it's too late for now, but maybe for the future! Ravensfire (talk) 18:14, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Ravensfire, I completely agree with you. I would love to have one discussion about deleting all such redirects, if only I knew how many there were - at first I only noticed a few such redirects, and I simply reported them to RfD. Only later did I realize there were many more, but by then it was too late for one big report. But thank you for your message, I will remember it for the future :). Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! BZPN (talk) 18:25, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

En dashes and №

Hi, thank you a lot fro replacing the dashes in the days of the year, however the software or method you used didn't recognise the spaces before and after the hyphens, thus accidentally replacing the correct hyphens with en dashes, for example in January 5. Some softwares see the difference between " - " (spaced) and "-" (unspaced), but some don't, so that's what caused it I think. Unrelated but "№" is not a typo, it's a en:Numero sign (No. is correct too, both are correct). Anyway, thank you so so much for replacing all of those annoying hyphens, I couldn't stand them any longer XD Merry Christmas again! ☺️ ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 13:23, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, @Dream Indigo. Thank you for your message. As for "№", the "No." version is more widely used and generally more popular on Wikipedia (of course, I could not correct it, but I wanted to standardize the appearance in tables). As for "-", I had no idea that they could be correct in some places. So, after the holidays, I will try to fix the mistakes that this caused. Merry Christmas to you as well! Best regards, BZPN (talk) 13:43, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Dream Indigo, thank you, I really appreciate it :). I had the opportunity to be in Italy once in my life and it was an amazing experience. Thank you for sharing your national Christmas tradition! It looks very nice. And of course, Merry Christmas to you as well! Best regards, BZPN (talk) 09:00, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I am very happy to hear that 😊 Have an amazing time with your family! :) ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 11:20, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Copyedit replacements

Hi BZPN, could you review the edits you made like this, please? You replaced all the dashes with different ones, including on URLs in citations and invisible comments. I don't want to revert all your edits, so could you take a look when you have time. I can take a look too if you would like. Thank you, and Merry Christmas :) --Ferien (talk) 14:20, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, @Ferien. I know that. Dream Indigo wrote about it above (comment). I'll try to do it right after the holidays, it shouldn't take long. Sorry for the inconvenience! Merry Christmas and best regards, BZPN (talk) 14:26, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ah thank you - I didn't notice! I might take a look at some of them if I can help out. --Ferien (talk) 14:32, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Ferien, don't worry about it - I'll try to do it myself, it shouldn't be difficult :). I really appreciate your willingness to help though. BZPN (talk) 14:37, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is a script on enwiki that can put in dashes properly - en:User:GregU/dashes.js, might be worth importing. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 14:46, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Lee Vilenski, this is very helpful - thank you for this suggestion, I will try this tool :). Best regards, BZPN (talk) 14:49, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Unification of Bengal

On Unification of Bengal: users are allowed to blank a page that they created. Especially when it's AI-generated and unsourced, I don't think it's a problem to delete it. 2601:644:907E:A70:C8FB:CDF0:90E9:DE08 (talk) 17:05, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please cite a policy that allows authors to vandalize articles, or that allows blanking of AI-generated or unsourced articles. Also, this article is not eligible for QD and needs to be submitted to RfD, which I don't have time to do at the moment. BZPN (talk) 17:46, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's not vandalizing. Per Wikipedia:Deletion policy, Author wants deletion. Any page whose original author wants deletion can be quickly deleted, but only if most of the page was written by that author and was created as a mistake. If the author blanks the page, this can mean that they want it deleted.
I will be restoring the QD. 2601:644:907E:A70:FCEA:548C:3261:8779 (talk) 02:18, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
As for QD, you're right. But not about blanking - this is vandalism and the editors' task is not to guess what the author wanted to achieve, but to revert the vandalism. There is no interpreting blanking as QD, and the author did not use a QD template in this case. BZPN (talk) 10:55, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

QD A4

For this edit: Special:Diff/9976526 on Murder of Georgann Hawkins: A4 doesn't apply to events, such as murders. It only applies to people, groups, companies, products, services or websites that do not claim to be notable. 2601:644:907E:A70:7547:7317:E4F6:13E0 (talk) 17:08, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Do you see any other criterion that fits this situation (which is non-notable, there is no explanation why it should be described in the encyclopedia)? If so, don't be shy and replace them yourself. It's a waste of time on RfD. BZPN (talk) 17:12, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
No, I don't know of any other criterion that fits. There is, however, an article of the same name on English Wikipedia. But you're right that this short stub doesn't show notability (except that Ted Bundy is very famous), and if A4 covered all topics, it could be deleted. 2601:644:907E:A70:7547:7317:E4F6:13E0 (talk) 17:15, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
We're not on enwiki, so it doesn't matter. Other language versions mean nothing here. BZPN (talk) 17:22, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hyphen replacement

I think there are still problems with your replacements here. For example, in this change, you changed the hyphen to an ndash where I don't think it should have been. Examples:

Most of these are words where there is either an adjective that describes a noun, or an adverb that describes a verb, adjective, or another adverb. That kind of word takes a hyphen, not an ndash or one of the other types of dash. There were others, but these are an example.

I believe the specifications for this change were that only places where the hyphen had spaces on both sides of it should be changed. That was so that there would be ndashes after the date at the beginning of each entry. (@Dream Indigo:, please tell me if that's not right.) In pages where the {{ndash}} template is used, we may not need to make any changes at all.

Please don't make any more of these changes for now, until we clear this up. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 03:37, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: These are just cosmetic issues I guess... The aim of the fixes was to fix links, templates and other technical elements where I caused errors the first time. It worked, but as you can see, the methods I used (mass) also introduced changes in the wrong places, although they did not cause any technical problems, only a few visual changes. Most of the changes are correct, but I will look into them again. BZPN (talk) 09:27, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6: This is finally   Done. Feel free to review these changes. Best regards, BZPN (talk) 11:19, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi everyone. The dashes aren't just cosmetics, but different punctuation marks with different uses. Depending on the font you use, you may or may not notice a difference. We must use the correct mark if we want to look professional and reliable. These rules change depending on the language, so that's probably where the confusion started. There are many rules and exceptions, but I'm only listing the ones we need here.
  • The en dash (or N dash, medium length mark) is typically used in date ranges (2024–2025) and between two spaces (text – text). For example, here 1901-2000 (hyphen) should have been 1901–2000 (n dash).
  • The hyphen (the short one) is never used between two spaces (text - text is wrong). Hyphens are used with compound modifiers, such as small-appliance industry (read more). Most proper names use an hyphen (or a space). All of the examples listed by Auntof6 want an hyphen.
Exception copied from en:Hyphen#Joining: an en dash sometimes replaces the hyphen in hyphenated compounds if either of its constituent parts is already hyphenated or contains a space (for example, San Francisco–area residents, hormone receptor–positive cells, cell cycle–related factors, and public-school–private-school rivalries). There are many other examples listed in the article I linked.

I'm very sorry for all of the stress I caused over those dashes. ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 16:05, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Dream Indigo: I can run all the pages through AWB looking for ndashes. I can put in the {{ndash}} template that we talked about. I just did an example on January 1. For the starting point, I used the version of the article from before anyone was working with the ndash changes. I changed the characters in each entry, and also the ones in the headings that are year ranges -- see what you think. -- Auntof6 (talk) 16:46, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Auntof6: Best solution! Will also prevent further confusion :) I'd use – instead to transclude less templates and have less bytes, but either way is fine. Whichever you prefer :) ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 16:51, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Dream Indigo: I can use that instead. I'll get to it when I can. I set up AWB to automate the changes, so it just takes visually verifying them.
Since there are so many of these (366 of them), I think I won't backlevel everything like I did with this one. After the changes are done, I leave it to you to look for incorrectly used hyphens and/or dashes if you want to. -- Auntof6 (talk) 16:56, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's perfect! Thank you so much! I'll also put everything in my watchlist once you're done to fix any future incorrect addition. ✩ Dream Indigo ✩ 16:59, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

G5

Hi, was Invasive Spices blocked/banned when they created the pages you marked for deletion per this criteria? Am I missing something?-- BRP ever 15:53, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, @BRPever. To answer your question: no, but doesn't your re-creation count that way? Besides, I explained on DR what this is about (with an additional link to the discussion on AN) - there is no point in leaving these redirects. Best regards, BZPN (talk) 15:58, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand how you are applying this criteria, but G5 is clearly not meant to be used this way. BRP ever 16:02, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@BRPever, I see. I'm taking it to the discussion. Best regards, BZPN (talk) 16:06, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
