(V)GA

Hi Barras, (this is more serious, so I'm not talking in German this time) is it okay for non-admin/bureaucrat users to close (V)GA nominations as successful/not successful? I have seen it happen on ENWP and just wondering if it's actually allowed here. (I have never closed a nomination. Ever.) Orashmatash 17:08, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Not Barras, but the answer is yes. Goblin 17:10, 4 October 2011 (UTC) I ♥ Barras!Reply
Okay, thanks Goblin! :) Orashmatash 17:15, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Apologies

Hi Barras, as an apology for that unpleasantness, I decided to make this userbox for you. Sorry again, I was unaware... --Orashmatash 20:33, 10 October 2011 (UTC) I like... Patrolling!Reply

Request to unprotect some template subpages

Would you unprotect the following template doc and sandbox pages?:

If they need to be protected, I'd be interested to know what the issues are. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 05:07, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I just unprotected the last two, well I reduced the protection level. However, won't unprotect the first one. The Disclaimer is very sensible and should be touched only with care. -Barras (talk) 13:53, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK, thanks. Could that disclaimer be moved to the template page so that the doc page can be edited? --Auntof6 (talk) 17:52, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
I really don't want to touch it. I often tend to spoil such things and this might not be a good idea on the disclaimer page. -Barras (talk) 22:37, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK, fair enough. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:53, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Congrats, Barras

Hi there. I've always been fascinated by the history of Arab settlement in Indonesia, and your article on Arab Indonesians taught me quite a bit (like that I should visit Simple English Wikipedia more often!). A large number of Barnstars of National Merit have recently been introduced to the Simple English Wikipedia and I am pleased to award you with the first Indonesia Barnstar of National Merit ever given on this Wikiproject. Feel free to pass them along.

The Indonesia Barnstar of National Merit
I am pleased to award this, the first-ever Simple English Indonesia Barnstar of National Merit, to Barras. His article on Arab Indonesians was exactly what I like to see when I visit the Simple English Wikipedia. Thank you, Barras, for giving me the gift of knowledge. PhnomPencil (talk) 09:25, 5 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

OK cheers! PhnomPencil (talk) 09:25, 5 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Back to the backlog

Thank you for moving Chemical reactivity to my user space. I changed it a bit. I think the bullets are fine, but Gotanda says a bullet list is not simple. Please review the article. Next step is to address the WP:AN discussion. Many thanks! Racepacket (talk) 00:07, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yup, will look at it tomorrow, hopefully. -00:14, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
I also think that User:Racepacket/George Andrew Olah is ready. User:Peterdownunder just looked at it, and he thought that the biography portion was fine. He could not follow the "Work" section, so I simplified it. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 02:02, 7 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
User:Racepacket/DWS has now been edited by a number of people, including DJDunsie and AJona1992. I can't see any more simplification. May I please move it? Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 13:50, 11 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Sure. If others don't say it is too complex and so, just move it. From what I see from the most recent AN discussion, the restriction for your editing seems to be kind of lifted anyway. Try to make them as simple as possible, and then move them :-). -Barras (talk) 19:03, 18 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
What about User:Racepacket/Art Institute of Chicago? I have asked others to take a look. If it is sufficiently simple, we would need an admin to move it because after it went to user space, User:Ujaj35 put a stub in as a place holder. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 03:01, 20 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
I have made your changes. Please do the move by deleting or merging the existing (short) article. I don't want to do a cut and paste, because it will destroy the attributions for the other editors who worked in the version that is now in my user space. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 12:19, 22 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Moved it over. -Barras (talk) 10:58, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oh hello

The Germany Barnstar of National Merit
Since you don't get enough barnstars. Thanks for all your good work. PeterSymonds (talk) 21:48, 17 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of DotA

As per my comment on DJ's page, it seems notable enough to be a Featured article on Enwp, so A4 deletion is out of the question. Yottie =talk= 14:03, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

As mentioned on my talk page you don't seem to understand what A4 is. It means there is no claim of notability. Something that is notable can still be deleted with A4 if it doesn't show you how its notable. -DJSasso (talk) 14:05, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
All I'm asking for is a little common sense. We want more editors, yet we seem to be doing things which could easily scare them away. Simple changes to the way we do things could help a lot. Yottie =talk= 14:09, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Templates needed to be imported

When you have a chance, could you please import from En Wikipedia:

I am using these in my articles, but they are currently red links. I don't want to copy over templates from En wikipedia without your permission. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 22:54, 22 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

It would also be helpful if I could go back to creating subpages in user space. I am asking your permission to do that. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 07:04, 23 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
All templates are imported. And yes, go ahead! As I said, I see the editing restriction kinda lifted, looking at the last discussion about it on AN. -Barras (talk) 11:01, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Swagg Team

Hi B,

could you please delete the article as it messes up all interwikis aimed at Jive Records [1]? Thank you ;-) --Blunt. (talk) 12:59, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, derzeit etwas sehr beschäftigt... Ich wars net, Chenzw hat es gelöscht. Schöne Adventszeit! -Barras (talk) 11:02, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Request

Hi. Could you remove my rollback flag here too, please, under my request? Thanks.--Frigotoni ...i'm here; 15:11, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Done. -Barras (talk) 15:30, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Assistance

If you look at Gotanda's edits for December 3 and today, you will see that he is following my articles. In some cases, he is cutting them back severely. Please advise. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 17:59, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you have time, could you please import en:Template:Chemical bonds and en:Template:Infobox power station. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 22:06, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Also Template:OrgSynth and Template:Organometallics. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 21:42, 8 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for importing {{Chemical bonds}}. |I am confused by the deletion of {{Infobox power station}}. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 17:05, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

A messed up import, still trying to get the templates here... -Barras (talk) 17:06, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
I understand. Many, many thanks for your continued mentorship. Racepacket (talk) 17:40, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
I will look at the diff on Sunday. Won't get it done earlier. -Barras (talk) 21:02, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Also, if you could import en:Template:Reaction_mechanisms it would be great. Racepacket (talk) 05:24, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Also, en:Template:Infobox chemical analysis Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 09:43, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Both imported. As for the diff, yes, it is simply a copy of enwiki's text and so I can't do anything against the removal. I did not look at the complexity or something, just at the text in general. While you attribute everything, it is better not to plain copy and paste stuff. Some changes should always be made. For example, I'd say that the "Notable people"-section is not very useful here as it only contains red-links. -Barras (talk) 22:41, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I understand. Racepacket (talk) 00:23, 12 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Could you please take a quick look at: User:Racepacket/United States Civil Rights Movement. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 01:20, 12 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Also, could you please import en:Template:HealthIssuesOfPlastics? Many thanks! Racepacket (talk) 11:18, 12 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Also en:Template:Infobox Laboratory? Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 13:10, 14 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

With your two last templates, I have moved Fermilab and Bisphenol A to article space. I am waiting for you to give me some objective sense of whether United States Civil Rights Movement is ready for article space. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 23:34, 14 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Category you created

Hello Barras! I'm wondering if Category:Articles with broken cite web calls is being used and by which template...? I can't see any mention of it in the markup of {{cite web}} or {{citation/core}}. Could you please let me know? Thanks, Osiris (talk) 22:01, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I suppose it was used when I created the category. Maybe something has changed, I don't know. I can't even remember that I created that category. Sorry. -Barras (talk) 01:22, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Meh, no biggie. I'm going to redirect it to Category:Articles with broken citations. That way, it'll still be a valid category and if something pops up in there, I can find the source. Osiris (talk) 02:05, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I think I've found the reason. The edit you made immediately before that one was this edit which produced a cite error message, which put it in Category:Articles with broken citations anyway. In that case, would you mind qd-ing that extra category? Best regards (and sorry to bother), Osiris (talk) 02:11, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! :) Osiris (talk) 03:49, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

DYK

You orginally asked that I pre-clear with you any DYK nominations. I was thinking about proposing, "Did you know that Christopher Hitchens volunteered to be waterboarded so that he could write a magazine article?" What do you think? Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 08:59, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Looks good, go for it! -Barras (talk) 13:47, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
How about "Did you know that in 2011, 159 members of the U.S. House of Representatives reintroduced the Equal Rights Amendment in Congress?" Racepacket (talk) 15:41, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Not sure if the article is long enough, but otherwise it should be ok. -Barras (talk) 16:41, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Both nominated. Could you please import Template:TVQ? Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 10:50, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Imported. -Barras (talk) 17:15, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Dependent article moved to article space. Can you do anything about moving File:Ge-synchrotron-acclerator.jpg from En to Commons? It has been flagged to be moved. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 11:55, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Also, File:HalbachArrayFEL2.png Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 12:59, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
File:Ge-synchrotron-acclerator.jpg and File:HalbachArrayFEL2.png with many thanks to Trijnstel who did that! -Barras (talk) 16:44, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
The first file misses essential information: what is the source of this file? Of this isn't filled in, it most likely will be deleted on Commons. Please add that information to the file page on Commons. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 17:36, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
The second files misses a description. Can someone add information about what the file is showing to the description page on Commons? Romaine (talk) 17:38, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
I added the description to the second file. The first file comes from http://www-als.lbl.gov/, the Website of the US Dept of Energy's Advanced Light Source at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 07:12, 22 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Templates

Could you please import: en:Template:Electromagnetism and en:Template:MagneticCircuitSegments? It would be helpful for some physics articles. Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 11:48, 23 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

He is on a wikibreak now - I have done it for you. :) Chenzw  Talk  12:37, 23 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Bot flag for User:タチコマ robot

Bot handles double redirects and interwiki links and has a global bot flag. I noticed that my bot has quite a few edits here on this wiki so I decided to also apply for a local bot flag which may have been removed due to inactivity in the past. Mind you the bot is listed on Wikipedia:Bots so I believe that means it is still approved. -- Cat chi? 01:45, 29 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
