Just wondering why you reverted my edit? change

Sorry to bother you but you just reverted my edit and I was wondering if you could explain why? Milo, Talk, Contribs 15:46, 5 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@SpaceGuy32: Sorry, it looks like I must have mistaken that for vandalism. Thank you for asking me --Examknow (lets chat!  ) 15:48, 5 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
No worries: will you revert it or should I? Also just be really careful when doing that in future because it might discourage new editors! And also if you're going to put warnings on talk pages make sure to sign with your name using the following ~~~~. Thanks, Milo, Talk, Contribs 15:50, 5 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Lentr: It appears that it was set as a redirect when it was created. You should, however, discuss this on the article’s talk page. Thank you --Examknow (lets chat!  ) 17:12, 5 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

List of Anarchists reversion change

Dear Examknow, I noticed you reverted an edit to List of anarchists adding the name Lysander Spooner to the list, citing it as a broken link. On simple.wiki we like to leave red links because they encourage people to make new pages. If you have a look at the en.wiki page for [1] you might notice that he is actually an activist anarchist* and thus can be on the list. Please try and be a bit more careful when reverting edits in future since it's is discouraging for people who might not have much experience if their edits are immediately reverted. Thanks, Milo, Talk, Contribs 17:17, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@SpaceGuy32: your point is noted, but when I clicked on your enwiki link I got a bad title error on enwiki. --Examknow (lets chat!) 17:19, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Have now changed - have a look! Thanks, Milo, Talk, Contribs 17:20, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Warnings change

The edit made by User talk:104.160.110.82 was most certainly not vandalism and was simply them changing to the spelling that they have presumably grown up with: it can be spelt in two different ways. It is definitely not good to warn them for vandalism, and instead just a message letting them know that the more widely used spelling is fertiliSers would have been more than appropriate. I think you need to think more carefully about your warnings and reverts, as I have seen this sort of thing happening quite a bit, Milo, Talk, Contribs 19:22, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Is this the case, as I have never seen it spelled this way in anything wikipedia or elsewhere? --Examknow (lets chat!) 19:23, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
It is the American English spelling as opposed to the British english spelling: have a google perhaps! Milo, Talk, Contribs 19:24, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@SpaceGuy32: I must have mis-read that. I thought he was changing it to fertilisers instead of fertilizers. I also think that fertilizers is the correct spelling. I got completely mixed up. I will be more careful next time. --Examknow (lets chat!) 19:33, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Please do be more careful next time because this is starting to become a concerning habit and takes up a lot of time to deal with. Milo, Talk, Contribs 19:32, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have removed the warning. I too agree that I have been to quick with the reverts.--Examknow (lets chat!) 19:33, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your change to Wikipedia:Requests for deletion change

Hi, Examknow. Thanks for removing the two requests that were deleted. When you do that, please move the entries to the section for recently completed requests instead of just removing them. That way, people coming to check on them can have a chance to see what happened more easily. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 02:01, 10 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Auntof6: Sorry I just assumed that the template did that automatically. I guess not. --Examknow (lets chat!) 19:38, 10 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Dual citizenship change

I declined any deletion on this page and I want to explain why. Your edit summary said "Citizenship and Dual Citizenship are not the same thing so they should not be redirected." However, we can have redirects from related things that are not the same. We have a whole category for such redirects at Category:Redirects from related things. Citizenship mentions what a dual citizen is, so someone interested in dual citizenship can find info there. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:09, 17 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Obvious COPYVIO enwiki change

To the best of my understanding, COPYVIO doesn't relate to duplicating content from another Wikipedia project, such as you wrote in the Deletion template you added to Referential transparency. Rather, see the Wikipedia:Deletion policy#Articles, type 3:

  • Has been copied and pasted from another Wikipedia without simplifying complex text. If an article is or requires [italics mine - D] being simplified, the Simplifying template can be added to it. That does not allow the article to remain complex forever, but it gives editors some time to simplify it.

I don't want to modify the template you added without providing you this explanation; perhaps there's an element I don't understand. So your response would be appreciated. -- Deborahjay (talk) 15:53, 22 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

You are correct Deborahjay, the article can be identical to the one on en.wiki as long as it is attributed and it is simple. Articles copied over don't always need simplification. The number one way articles are created here is by copying and simplifying articles from en.wiki so you might not want to keep marking them all as copyvios. -DJSasso (talk) 16:08, 22 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I was unclear on that. I have had an article deleted because I had copied content from enwiki so I thought that was the policy. Best -Examknowtalk 16:14, 22 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Pinging @Djsasso: and @Deborahjay: Examknowtalk 16:14, 22 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
The key is making sure it is simple. If it is simple it shouldn't be deleted. But some people might be more strict on what constitutes simple. And you should mention in your edit summary where it is coming from just to be safe. -DJSasso (talk) 16:15, 22 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

English-only warning for foreign-script text on a User talk page change

Hello, Examknow. Regarding the warning message you added on User talk:הוספתי תוכן#May 2019: I hadn't known this was also the case for User talk pages. I realized the value of transparency there for the sake of communication and respect this practice - but still, I would think in the era of freely available machine translation (I can recommend GoogleTalk), texts in foreign-language scripts needn't be seen as so unacceptable. Would you have written the identical message if the foreign language were in Latin script? Perhaps as a Hebrew-speaker I'm particularly sensitive these days, given the sociopolitical climate prevalent in many countries. Thank you for advising. -- Deborahjay (talk) 15:44, 28 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) Yes, there is nothing wrong with having other languages on user and user talk pages, assuming that the content is otherwise allowed by the guideline. In general, I've recently seen an increase in flagging things on user pages that don't really need to be flagged unless the page owner does it. [User:Deborahjay|Deborahjay]], if you would like help restoring what was deleted, let me know. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:37, 28 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Deborahjay: Okay I just wasn’t sure if you could even understand it. Usually it just seems off to me that people write messages in other languages when the wiki is for simple english. Looking back I probably should have let you handle it since it was your talk page not mine. Thank you for taking this up with me. Examknowtalk 18:16, 28 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Manx pound change

Hello Examknow, I'm sorry if you classify my changes to "Manx pound" as "not helpful". I simply corrected the strange sort order of coins and banknotes in the article and added the £5 coin. (£5 is really available in different versions on Isle of Man - I can send you pictures of it.) Also, I have added a link to the banknotes currently in circulation on the Isle of Man. For me it looks like a useful supplement that illustrates the article. I really do not understand why these changes should be so bad. Explaining why I made the warn templates change

Okay: here is the reason why I made the warn templates myself. It is because I wanted to make my own warn templates myself, just like Chenzw did with his(?) bot, ChenzwBot. You told me they were already made and to see WP:UW, but I wanted to make sure my warn templates are substituted. Anyway, that's it. CentralTime301 (📱, 📝) 01:01, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

@CentralTime301: you should only be using approved warning templates. @Chenzw: created his own warning templates that were pretty much the exact same but they just stated they were from a bot. --Examknowtalk 01:04, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Examknow: I had left a message on Chenzw's talk page explaining the same reason about this and why it got me inspired by the warnings sent to vandals by his bot, ChenzwBot. Signed in regards, CentralTime301 (📱, 📝) 01:11, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

IPBlockExempt change

I have removed the IP Block Exemption that Vermont gave you. He mentioned you said it was because you were at a starbucks. However, it appears you have been attempting to connect through a number of proxies and colo facilities. Those blocks are valid. I would highly suggest you stop trying to connect through such means. It does lead to some suspicion of your account, due to your history of sockpuppeting on en.wiki as the obvious explanation is that you are connecting through them in an attempt to get around your block on en.wiki or to sock puppet here as well. This is the only warning I will give on this topic as any socking here will be an immediate block. -DJSasso (talk) 13:49, 16 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I am the IP of Gale5050 and I forgot to log in. Anyway, so since I caused problems on 2 other Wikipedia’s and I were to commit vandalism, would I start off at a 3, a 4im, or be blocked immediately? Also, are there other types of Level 3 warnings, cause I saw another one that was blue. "Ants" page edits change

Although I understand that edits I made to the first two sections of the Ant article are not yet 100% compliant to the BE1500 word list, this article was going to be an ongoing cleanup project for me considering the original is VERY non-compliant. The first paragraph contains the words "organised", "classified", "predatory", "territories", "vary" and "elbowed" to name only a few of the terms not found in Simple English, and the subsections below are full of staggeringly complex vocabulary. I'm sure you can see this article needs a lot of work to make it suitable for this Wiki - I know that my edits did not fix everything immediately, but surely you can agree that they're a step in the right direction, and need tweaking rather than reverting them back to the unsatisfactory version which is currently published?

@King Punn:   Done I have restored your revisions. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. If you wish, you may remove my notice from your talk page. Cheers :-), Examknowtalk 13:47, 23 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
