Short wikipedia change

I think that is an interesting project, but I am not a programmer. If I could be helpful in any other way, please tell me. - At the moment I try to create a lot of stubs to get rid of red links. That might be helpful for your SWP, because more articles could be transformed. --Cethegus 11:21, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello Lwyx, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia!

Wordlists change

Hello Lwyx, I have replied on my talk page (regarding the idea of taking/filtering a number of wordlists) to get our "working vocabulary". --Eptalon (talk) 21:18, 15 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Aussie words change

Hello Lwyx, I don't think there is any Australian lists as such, we certainly use Dolch and Fry. I will double check with my literacy expert at school on Monday.

I am using the simple english dictionary you (well I think it was you) added to the Firefox dictionaries. This has made writing and editing so much easier. I am looking forward to getting an agreed working definition of simple. --Peterdownunder (talk) 01:02, 21 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the delay, but I did find a list that is used by some schools across Australia. It is a list of 305 common words for younger students and is created by the Oxford University Press. It has just been updated (about two weeks ago) so it includes words like computer. It can be downloaded from [1] --Peterdownunder (talk) 01:28, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Simple English dictionary change

Hi Lwyx I was wondering if you were going to update your Simple English Dictionary extension for the new version of Firefox 3.5.2. It made checking pages here much easier. --Peterdownunder (talk) 09:21, 25 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Are there changes? I wasn't aware. I'll have a look and get back to you ASAP. Lwyx (talk) 21:15, 22 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for getting the dictionary working again, it's a very important tool for editors. --Peterdownunder (talk) 07:38, 8 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

SE Thesaurus etc. change

Your comments on a SE thesaurus at basic-english.org were interesting to me. I just wrote a comment about idioms versus vocabulary control which sounds like it involves the same issue. Would appreciate your feedback. - Regards, PhilipR (talk) 07:18, 9 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Simple English dictionary change

Hi Lwxy, I am not sure how often you check your page here, but here is hoping you will see this. Once again I would like you to update the Simple English Dictionary extension so it will work for Firefox 5.0 The dictionary is the best tools we have here to keep pages in Simple English. Many thanks --Peterdownunder (talk) 09:33, 3 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'll check the instructions for upgrading the extensions and I'll try to make it work for the new versions of ffx. Lwyx (talk) 12:57, 3 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Just updated the dictionaries at Mozilla's webpage. I'll try to make a mirror in a webpage for downloading for the general public. Lwyx (talk) 20:36, 20 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Once again Firefox has updated, version 15, and the Simple English Dictionary has stopped working. Would you be able to look at it again. The dictionary is simply the best tool available for this Wikipedia.--Peterdownunder (talk) 03:33, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'll check it out sometime later in the week. Thanks for the report. Lwyx (talk) 18:52, 19 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Are you sure it is broken? I could download and install it in my FFX 15.0.1. Which version of Simple English Dictionary have you installed? Lwyx (talk) 19:01, 19 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
I am using SED 0.1.3. I might try a reinstall because it sounds like my problem not yours.--Peterdownunder (talk) 21:39, 19 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Solved it! It used to be listed as simple english in the drop down languages list, but is now only labelled English. Thanks for getting me to recheck. I rely so much on this tool that I can hardly edit without it.--Peterdownunder (talk) 22:44, 19 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Just want to add my thanks. I, too, can hardly edit on simple without it. StevenJ81 (talk) 00:00, 25 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Firefox and Extension Signing change

Hi Lwyx, once again Firefox has managed to disable your fantastic addon for the Simple English Dictionary. All extensions apparently require "signing" by the developer before they can be verified for use. Are you in a position to be able to this?--Peterdownunder (talk) 23:03, 26 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've been away from my desk and thus missed your message for two weeks. I'll check that asap. Thanks Lwyx (talk) 23:54, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thankyou :) --Peterdownunder (talk) 10:39, 6 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I did whatever I could. Try downloading and installing now, and let me know of any troubles. Lwyx (talk) 22:01, 20 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
It still won't install, coming up with an "unverified add on" warning.--Peterdownunder (talk) 11:30, 21 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Do you mind stating your OS and Firefox/Seamonkey version for me to test? Lwyx (talk) 21:54, 21 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I am using Windows 10 Pro (1511) and Firefox 49.0 --Peterdownunder (talk) 22:51, 21 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have installed the dictionary on Seamonkey, and it working well. I will use this solution.--Peterdownunder (talk) 12:05, 23 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
